1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Fiber Friday 2/23/07! on: February 23, 2007 12:02:43 AM
Yay, I'm up late and I want to start the thread  Grin

Not too productive this week, but I did spin some merino/tussah!

The color is truer in the first picture.

Half on the first bobbin..

Plied and washed

The final yarn is 112g, 515 yards, about 17WPI, and I crammed it all on an ashford bobbin (on my hitchhiker) when I plied it .  I only had about 3 yards of single left on one bobbin when I ran out on the other - that was amazingly close considering the overall yardage. It's a bit finer than I intended, but that's ok.
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Can I eat it instead? on: January 22, 2007 12:28:47 PM
I do plan on spinning it, but I just want to stare at it (and drool) for a while - it looks positively yummy!

This was some 80s count merino I've had for nearly a year.. terrified of dyeing it because I didn't want to felt it (I didn't, btw, it came out absolutely perfect!) I finally dyed it saturday, then stayed up way too late making those cute little fluff-balls, and now it's all pre-drafted and ready to go  Grin  There's another 100g or so waiting to be predrafted, but I think I'll wait until this lot is spun up.
