ooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooo!!  My mom just bought me this season's subscription to the zen fiber club for chanukkah!!!!!  I'm SOOOOOO excited!!!!!

She got me "hopi" in merino/bamboo as well.. I can't wait to spin it up!!!

Yay!  Angelina comes up with some of the best colorways - I've loved everything I've gotten from her so far Smiley
2  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Discussion and Questions / Re: Rigid Heddle - Ashford or Kromski? on: December 06, 2007 10:06:54 AM
A TV stand won't work for a 32" loom - I can't easily use one with my 12" knitter's loom, and I think even a 16" loom would be too wide (there's some extra space on either side, so they are much wider than their weaving width)

RH are designed to be leaned against a sturdy table or used with a stand.  I think with a larger loom, I'd probably prefer to use a stand.  I've been tempted to get the stand for my knitter's loom since it came out recently.

I haven't shared in a WHILE.... so be patient.. this goes from newer to older  Grin

The first one I did last night and today... this was before washing, it's hanging up to dry currently  Roll Eyes

"Nebula" is corriedale dyed by Zen String (Oct. Fiber Club) - not sure on the WPI or yardage yet

Black Alpaca (I carded this myself from fiber purchased at the old oaks ranch - note the VM still in there!), it's fingering weight, 115g/360yds

White French Angora (spun from loose wool, not carded).. no idea how much of this there is, or any other stats, I never bothered measuring, for some reason?

"Yoshi" is finn dyed by Woobies Wool 8oz and about 500yds total, I think this was 11wpi

"Shy" is dyed Romney locks from Marsh Mellow Meadows, I carded this myself, I forget the stats on it (ooops!)

"Bunnyfur" is wool from my black english angora blended with CVM (dyed blue) from my fiber stash.  I've also forgotten the stats on this (seems I have a problem with that.. hmm!)

"Tomorrow" is merino dyed by Zen String (September Fiber Club) 111g / 365yds / 11WPI

"Hopi" is superwash BFL dyed by Zen String 105g / 325yds / 14WPI

Chocolate Corriedale (from roving).. I had about 14oz of this total, 10wpi, some became a sweater

"Sea Salt" is merino/tencell blend from Zen String 101g / 435yds 14WPI

Phew!  That's a lot of yarn.. all spun over the past 4 months  Grin
4  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Yup, Another wheel question but mine is about shipping! on: March 09, 2007 12:40:37 AM
I just ordered my Rose from Copper Moose a little over a month ago, and it took a couple days over 3 weeks to get to me.  Bill got the order in right away, but the delay was directly from Majacraft - they were just coming off of their "summer" break, and had to make my wheel, then once they shipped it, I had it in a week.

Not many retailers actually stock Majacraft wheels - the vast majority are drop shipped, so where you order from really has very little impact on the time it takes you to get it.
5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Woolee Winder order I placed on 1/5/07. on: February 28, 2007 01:34:35 PM
I've heard the current wait is 8+ weeks.

Oh,my, easterbun....I am in total awe! How did you get your fibers so fine? Is it practice?

It's all in how it's drafted... draft less fiber and you'll get a finer yarn  Cheesy

Yay, I'm up late and I want to start the thread  Grin

Not too productive this week, but I did spin some merino/tussah!

The color is truer in the first picture.

Half on the first bobbin..

Plied and washed

The final yarn is 112g, 515 yards, about 17WPI, and I crammed it all on an ashford bobbin (on my hitchhiker) when I plied it .  I only had about 3 yards of single left on one bobbin when I ran out on the other - that was amazingly close considering the overall yardage. It's a bit finer than I intended, but that's ok.

They look great - not overspun at all!  Once you set them they'll seem much less "twisty" and behave a whole lot better Wink
9  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: My wheel is here!!!! Woot! on: February 22, 2007 05:00:29 PM
My wheel is here too!!  23 days from when I ordered, but that's ok - it had to get made by Majacraft since they were just coming off their "summer" break and then shipped to me from NZ (which took 8 days).

I ordered mine from Copper Moose  Grin

I am in love  Cheesy

Don't be too jealous - I've already had two days of dissapointment this week  Cry

I hate not knowing when it's going to be here.
