1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Lets make the other runners jealous hat! (a long but extremely apt name) on: February 26, 2010 09:54:09 PM
My brother is a runner, he has ran the San Fransisco Marathon 3 times, and when he was home at Christmas he declared that he wanted a custom hat to make the other runners jealous. He started going on and on about the expensive hats that wear for status. He specifically wanted a large hole in the top to let out steam and wanted it to cover his ears, he also wanted to make sure it would fall off when it was full of sweat (gross). I kept putting it off but since his wife went ahead and bought the yarn I felt obligated to finish it and I did, the night before he went back to California. He was pretty happy with it and excited to make the other runners jealous of his "custom made" hat.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Beautiful Blue and Green Mesh Bag on: March 11, 2009 06:30:24 PM
I got a gift certificate for the local yarn store at Christmas and after a while I finally decided on some green yarn. If you look at my past projects I made a similar bag but this is a little more finished and I like the look better. I lined the bag with a dark blue silky fabric that I found in my sisters fabric stash (she hasn't lived with us for three years). I also got the button at the yarn store it reminded my kind of like tree bark. They had buttons that were made out of wood but they were really expensive. The yarn has slight variations in it and when I first looked at it I thought of a forest, hence the tree bark button. I am really happy with how it turned out, after I made the mesh part it took a really long time for me to start on the lining because I don't sew that well.

3  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 33 ENTRIES / Spongebob Squarepants Hat on: December 05, 2008 02:46:23 PM
I made this Spongebob hat for my nephew. He is almost three and loves "bob-bob". It wasn't really inspired by anything specific and after I decided how I was going to do it I looked at other Spongebob hats but I feel that mine is pretty original.

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Necklaces (IMG HEAVY) on: August 24, 2008 12:27:06 PM
I recently started to try and crochet some jewelry, at first I tried to use wire and my fingers didn't agree with it so I kind of gave up, then I thought that I don't just have to use wire. I made some with nylon and cotton crochet thread and I started to get used to the beads and started using wire. I think I like wire better now because it just leaves things looking cleaner to me and it won't fray. I think my favorite one is the black and silver, it consists of three different kinds of beads. I made a string with each kind of bead and entwined all three together.

5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / The "Chelsi" Doll (IMG HEAVY) on: May 12, 2008 04:37:59 PM
I made a Poseidon doll not too long ago for English and my friend Chelsi kept asking me to make her a doll. Not just any doll but a doll modeled after her. I used the same pattern as the other doll but made slight changes to the dress. I wasn't really considering to put so much work into something and didn't think I would make it, but one night I was home alone and got some bad news so instead of doing something stupid I bought a ton of new yarn and started the "Chelsi" doll! I made most of it that night while watching the five hour long Pride and Prejudice. All I had left was the hair and the dress but I just couldn't stay focused on it but I finally finished her last night. The last pictures I took today with Chelsi and her doll, she was so excited!

6  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Asian Costume on: April 18, 2008 09:40:59 PM
I am the costume director for my high school theater troupe, troupe 639 who is performing at the International Thespian Conference this summer for the play Noises Off( you can tell I'm really proud). Anyway, we just finished a play called The Butler Did It, and we needed some kind of Asian costume so I had to make it from scratch because it was on pretty short notice, we weren't quite prepared for this play, I'm really proud of this because its the first costume I totally designed and made all by myself. The first picture is my brother in the costume, and the others are of the actor. The last one is of his wooden shoes, they have little stilts on them, I only put the straps on them and this is before I trimmed and fixed them.

7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Houyhnhnm on: March 14, 2008 01:29:09 PM
I have done another project for my English class, sadly my last, but this time I did mine over the novel Gulliver's Travels that we read. We read only the first and the last book so it was hard to decided if I was going to do my projects over the Lilliputians or the Houyhnhnm, obviously I chose the Houyhnhnm. This is master Houyhnhnm, and he has a voice box in his neck that says, "Hello, Mrs. Abker, I'm master Houyhnhnm." I love my projects so much but it is still fun to leave them with my teacher for future English students to admire. Wink

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Pinapple Doily on: January 21, 2008 05:39:42 PM
This is a doily I just made, I got the pattern through crochet pattern central, but couldn't find it again so I can't put a link to it, it is out there though.
9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / SpongeBob Hat on: January 19, 2008 08:03:54 PM
My nephew who is going to be two in May just learned how to say SpongeBob and its like his new favorite thing. I want to crochet him something spongebob that is more than just a toy and I came up with the idea of a hat, but I'm not so sure on how to construct a rectangular hat and if it would even work, any ideas?
