Here is my submission: Orange dots and dragonflies
it is about 7 x 11 with a short strap. It is made with cotton fabric, reinforced with light batting, and a button closure. 

So I was motivated by my friend who has been asking me for a painting for years.  She just bought a house, so I thought I'd finally work on something for her as a housewarming gift.  I've been into recreating architectural details from old houses lately- but I was just sketching.  Now I decided to go back and turn some of my sketches into a series of paintings.  I just finished the first one.  This is pretty small... maybe 5x6. The colors don't look so hot on my computer...

Cleaning out the closet... found some old jeans that were way out of style.  I used this challenge to make my first handbag ever.  I made the pattern out of 8 1/2 x 11 computer paper.  Cut up the jeans for the outside of the bag and the straps and also re-used the pocket for the inside.  The lining is leftover from an outfit that I made for my 2-year-old.  The bag size is about 8x10.5 (thanks to my paper size). Cost = $0!

I'm not a quilter per se... but I had all these lovely scraps of flannel in my scrap box.  I decided to make a quilt for my 2-year-old daughter and dug up all the pink and yellow I could find.  The squares are flannel- but I ran out of flannel, so the border is regular cotton fabric.  The backing is white flannel that I found on sale.  I didn't use any batting because the flannel seemed so warm already and my daughter doesn't like heavy blankets.  It took about a week to make- certainly nothing fancy, but it was so rewarding to see my scraps transform into something so pretty and useful  .

Butterick B4543.  The written instructions were kind of vague, but the pics were easy to follow.   It was VERY easy and quick, and it turned out very well. 
 

Loved making this!  I had so much fun and it was really easy.  I don't do complicated projects.  I did it in 2 evenings after my daughter went to bed.  It is a size 3T, which is a bit big, but should fit her by summer.  If not, I'll take in the waist a little.  It was Butterick B4543.  I have some other fun material and I am going to make her the top and skirt next.

Thanks to craftster (I looked back at all the tutu projects) my daughter got the tutu she's been begging me for.  I bought 3 yards of tulle and used some stretchy material from an old turtleneck to make the waist.  I thought the tulle would be more difficult to work with than it was.  My daughter couldn't be happier- in fact, she won't take it off (I made her take it off to go to bed).
