1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Help 'Pimping a Ride', please! on: July 10, 2006 08:30:49 AM

this is my friend Mongo and his 'Gator at the Philadelphia Fok Festival last year...
it is my joy, honor, and duty to see that his is the pimpin-est ride at the 'fest
i need some more ideas for this year... last year it was all done with no pre-planning (although i'm really proud of the flame job which you can't really see).
i'd love any suggestions from all you brilliant cracksters to help pimp it up right...
we can't actually paint the 'gator itself since it's rented, but the frame work is 2x4's and scrap wood, so easy to paint, staple stuff to, etc...
i've got battery pwr'd rice lights and LED's, so it'll be sexy at night, but i need more...
anyone got anything?
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Why I hate the Fourth of July! on: July 05, 2006 06:16:47 AM
First things first...
I have a 'special needs' dog who has been mentioned here in the botch forum before...
El Clive-o is terrified (i mean like to the point of LITERALLY clawing through doors, tearing panelling off the walls, etc.) of thunderstorms and fireworks, and here in my town we've had a massive rash of both - my neighbors start the fireworks about a week early.
Being a good dog owner I've been staying home with him as much as possible and using the time to 'spring clean' and especially rearrange my craftng areas and supplies... and if I say so myself, by yesterday afternoon I had done a very good job.
Well, by 9:00 the big town fireworks were going, the neighbors were shooting off all sorts of stuff, and then the thunderstorms started...

Clive managed to pull 5 full plastic shoeboxes full of FRESHLY ORGANIZED tools, findings, beads (O, when will I learn I can't have beads and dog), markers, etc. off the bookshelf, AND tore through a shopping bag full of cotton yarn in skeins that had just been given to me to dye -well, they ain't in skeins no more! And my dressmakers mannequin (which has suffered massive Hurricane Clive damage before) looks like it went through a wood chipper.  Shocked Angry  Cry
Each time I had one disaster averted I found him beginning on another one, and no amount of scritching and soothing words could stop him.  Cry
I JUST spent the past week cleaning this same sh*t up!!! And that's JUST the craft related damage...
I didn't sleep till 4:30 am, and that was on the floor, covered in dog slobber, and with a 70+lb pitbull/boxer draped across my chest.
AND, this is WITH vet-prescribed doses of Valium (the amount he takes would incapacitate me), windows closed, air conditioner on, and industrial, metal, techno, and EBM playing loud as I could get away with all night!

I have SO much work to redo, and I am NOT normally an organized person, I save my high levels of inspiration for crafting, not cleaning, and I'm trying desperately to stay organized and inspired for my first swap, too!

Oh, Eris... this isn't funny anymore - can you go pick on someone else?
I feel awful for my poor pup, but if this sh*t don't stop soon I'm thinking of inviting all the local Philly area Craftsters for a 'you clean it up, you keep it' potluck dinner, featuring doggie stew as the main dish!
Y'all think garlic goes well with dog?

Eternal thanks to Leah and all the Cracksters... for creating and encouraging a place to rant about such stuff!
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / siamese bunnies need your help on: March 28, 2006 05:18:36 AM
I recon'd the bunnies, but now they need to become a wedding present...
Anyone have any ideas as to how to suggest bride and groom-ness without getting too elaborate or 'cute'.
Thinking of a top hat, veil, and flowers, but I'd also like to give them somewhat of an edge, Rock n' roll 'em a bit... Anyone have any brilliant suggestions as I am slightly tapped.
Huh

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / recon duckie stuffie on: March 26, 2006 09:26:53 AM
I made this over coffee this morning. I got the duckies at the dollar tree, ripped, stitched and giggled the whole time I was sewing it. Super easy to do as the fur is much like fun-fur yarn and hides the stitches well (I hand stitched it), very forgiving stuff.
I will give all credit for the genesis of this humble duckie to Cat at Morbid Tendencies (http://www.morbidtendencies.com)! She's an absolute genius (and I really really hope she won't be mad at me for doing this) and as soon as I can afford to I want to join her Unfortunate Animal of the Month Club. Until then I will cuddle my squshy mutant duckie.

BTW - my mom said she didn't know if she sould feel sad or laugh when she looked at him... I told her by all means to laugh... The duckies are very happy this way!  Grin
5  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: Southeast / Call for PA crafters! on: March 03, 2006 08:19:34 AM
The Xtreme Folk Scene is seeking crafters for our 6th Annual X-Fest to be held on June 17th!

This ain't yo' momma's folk fest! Hippies are welcome of course, but we're a diverse crowd - we're talking extreme here! Bring us your bizarre  - punk, goth, newage, pagan, silly, racy... we want to see it all! All we ask is that it be affordable to the average joe...

The X-Fest is a a small but growing one day music festival held at Country Creek Winery in Telford, PA (40 mins from Philly) and we are seeking crafters as unique as our musicians! The fee for a table will be nominal and there will be overnight camping available to you.

See what we're all about: www.xfsmusic.org
To apply or ask questions: email (w/pix if applying) to goblinstudio@yahoo.com or PM me here.
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / First post, may as well be a botch! on: February 27, 2006 03:20:41 PM
My dog just dumped my black bead soup! I went out to get some groceries and didn't latch the door properly to keep the creature away from the crafts.

About $100 worth of mixed czech, delica, and hex cuts are now rattling down the heating vent and burrowing into the carpet. I just registered today having no idea that calamity would be cause for my "cherry-popping" craftster post. Well, as crafting disasters go it's less painful then others I've had. Didn't leave a mark, anyway.

Thank Bob I had the messageboards to read - I feel less angry and juiced to go make something else...
Y'all are a calming influence and an inspiration!
