I wasn't awake when the mailman came, but there's a package delivery notice for me. Presumably it's my beloved HP package from monkeystuffer. More details tomorrow when I go to pick it up from the post office.

I finally went home to visit my family..and a package of gnomey awesomeness awaited me! It's soooooo good.

I got a really really wonderful messenger bag made of green corduroy, with a well-matched brown lining and really detailed embroidery of a gnome on the front. It's big enough to hold almost anything I want, and feels really sturdy. It saw immediate use once it was out of the package. My cousin was jealous when she saw it...I think she might be joining craftster soon after seeing the stuff I got. It also has a pencil case made of the same material that clips into the inside - so handy. There was also a bookmark and a stamp that I will be using at every opportunity.

All in all, I am *extremely* pleased. Thank you so much Ezri_B!

Unfortunately I am away from my camera so pictures will have to wait till the weekend.

So I finally sent off my stuff to monkeystuffer. I posted pictures of it here: http://flickr.com/photos/kaunartist/sets/72157604831216043/ so that people who wanted could have a look but not spoil it for her.

Thanks for organising, superhooker and samsara Smiley

I'm not sure what sort of linoleum I use, I know it's normally used for printmaking but I haven't bought any in a long time. Mine is a yellow-brown color.

1. Buy linoleum or a stamp carving block (I have never worked with the latter).
2. Take an exacto knife, or gouges if you have them, and cut away. Keep in mind the picture will reverse, and that anything you cut away will print as white, whatever you leave will be black (or whatever color you stamp with).
3. Stamp!

I'm sure the stamp forum here will have plenty more info, but that is essentially all there is to it.

Yea, that's a napkinholder. It's good at storing anything papery, really.

The saltshakers were a lot of work - I did myself the wonderful favour of grabbing the hardest wood I have ever worked with (off the forest floor, so I can't really complain). My thumbs are finally healed from the blisters from carving those babies, but they were so worth it. My mom and aunt both demanded a set each so I'll be making more soon, but I've ordered carving wood for those, so hopefully it'll take a bit less time. When I'm finished those I will post them as my first finished project on Craftster. I think I carved Iorek over a Friday night and a Saturday, so I'll say one whole day of work to make one.

I'm so glad I made them because it gave me a really good excuse to buy the drill I've been wanting for a while Smiley

Linoleum is a lot softer than wood, the stamp took me about 30 minutes probably.

Thanks for your compliments Smiley

OMG I'm still not finished with the stuff for this swap!  For two weekends in a row I've had unexpected houseguests, which was great becuase I never get to see them, but bad for crafting.  And that's on top of the fact that the large project has taken me about 10 hours already and isn't halfway done.  I'm hoping the rest of it will go more smoothly.

I am sorry for being so late.

The later you are, the better I feel. I've been running into a couple setbacks with my large, which is the cause for all this delay. BUT - it will be SO worth it in the end. Like, all kinds of worth it. My friends are ridiculing me for even thinking about giving this away, and I am already designing the next one for as soon as I finish.

So please, take your time Smiley

I just finished the construction of my medium (that's the hard part), gonna do the decoration tomorrow once I get some tools off a friend. Then I get to wrap up my large and I'm all set. If I hadn't planned on making duplicates of most of this stuff, I'd be having a lot of trouble parting with it. That's always a good sign for me Smiley
