1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: What's for supper? on: July 15, 2007 03:11:54 PM
I'm roasting a chicken tonight, with taters, carrots, onions, and celery.

I made maple mustard burgers on the grill for lunch:

Maple Mustard Burgers
1 lb. ground beef
1/4 cup (or so) chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Glaze
3 tbsp pure maple syrup
2 tbsp spicy grainy mustard
1 tbsp of cider vinegar
1 tsp of liquid honey
1/2 tsp of dry mustard
1 tsp orange zest chopped fine

4 buns, your choice (I like seeded)

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a medium size bowl combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt and pepper. Form the mixture into 4 patties of equal size.  Place patties on a tray to transport to the grill.
2. In a medium size bowl whisk together all glaze ingredients.
3. Preheat barbeque grill to medium high heat. Oil the grill, if necessary.
4. Brush the burgers with prepared glaze. Place patties on grill for 7-8 minutes basting every 2 minutes or until dark golden brown and slightly crisp on exterior. Flip the burgers and continue to cook for another 7 minutes basting every 2 minutes. Remove burgers from grill and place on tray.  This is for well done, adjust the time and temperature accordingly if you prefer a less well done burger.
5. Place sliced buns on the bun rack for 1 minute.
6. Serve burgers with warm buns and desired toppings.

I tried to get it all in this shot, but ended up adding some more stuff before I closed up the box:

Felt squares?  I rarely buy felt in squares.  I usually buy it by the yard. :-)

I think I'd be up for this one.

This has been fun.  heroinechic and I had each others' names and she has been great.  I've been a little slow in getting stuff out sometimes and the post office lost not one, but TWO of her packages.  I've tried to make up for that.  This last one I sent via UPS, not realizing that she would have to have it re-routed to her work address.  Here are the pics of what she's getting this last time.

Purchased for her:
decorative edge ruler, just too cool to pass up
glass heart dish
"Sour lemons make summer sweet" dish for her Lemony kitchen
Swirl Art set
wicker basket
Chives grow kit
yellow garden box
green gloves
mini garden rake and shovel

Crafted for her:
melted crayon embellished note cards
beaded fish keychain
quilted Christmas magnet
green tie-dye t-shirt
green decoupage butterfly box
foam heart with candy stick
2 lollipop ornaments
green thread and red bead wreath magnet

Alrighty, here is what I got to start with:

And, here is what I did with it:

From the vinyl and pillow form, I think I have discovered a new addiction:

From the sweater knit.  I really wanted to do a poncho, but just couldn't figure out how to make it work like I wanted, so a teddy bear is what Rusty got.

From the clear ornament:

From the jeans and iron-on patch, a refrigerator magnet not pad holder:

From the mini-fleece scraps, I had wanted to put a squeaker in the duck, but couldn't find one.  I was thinking that you could use these as a sachet, just spritz with a cologne and stuff in your drawer.

From the calendar, a journal and a few refrigerator magnets:

And, last from the beads:

I hope you like everything Rusty!  I had a lot of fun with this.

Got my final SC package from heroinechic this week.  It is fantabulous.  They all have been.  Here is what she sent:

]

She sent:
* a pattern
* some musical-themed fat quarters
* a really cool sugar scoop key chain
* a Play-Doh tiki guy (my son loves that guy, I thought he was getting too old for Play-doh)
* a butterfly stack-'em stamp
* a beautiful framed photo from her cruise to Alaska
* a loom flower
* a personalized stamped note pad
* a couple of beaded magnets
* a bunch of stamped tags
* a cross-stitch sachet
* a wire wreath with clay faces wrapped in it
* a super-awesome felt frog

This has been a lot of fun and heroinechic has been a wonderful swapper!

Thanks.

So, I'm slower than Molasses in January in posting photos, but here are some for this swap.

Received from heroinechic in April:

]

The cook book has to be my favorite!

Sent to heroinchic in May (she may have already posted pictures, she's definitely better at that than me):

Received from heroinechic in May:

]

That frame is awesome!  Embellished with a Japanese-theme; framing Japanese stamps.  Really cool! ! !  Perfect for my "Around the World" kitchen.

Received from heroinechic in June:

]

The jewelry is awesome (as all of her stuff has been), and she sends stuff for my son every now and then and he will be thrilled to get the Fairly Odd Parents sucker when he comes back home from visiting my brother at the end of this week.  He loves that show (and those awful blue suckers), what a mix! ! !

Heroinechic has been fabulous!  Thanks so much.

Chocolate without melting, that's easy.  Tootsie Pops or Tootsie Rolls.  Mmmm
