1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Reduction Tote Bag on: September 11, 2007 08:51:10 AM

My altered version of  the Reduction Tote  Bag by Anne Frost.  You can find the pattern here:

All the thread came from my stash and lots was picked up at the thrift store months ago.

I used the Willow square from 200 Crocheted Blocks but added a few xtra rows. I did about 10 less rows for the mesh because I find this stitch plenty stretchy so I didn't think I needed as much height as the pattern called for.

I still need to sew on some buttons. I am sure I have some stashed somewhere.

You can see the the flap is showing on the outside of the square. I might put the flap on the inside so when it's all folded up it so it doesn't cover up the pretty square.
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Skull Bag on: September 11, 2007 08:48:23 AM
I made this for my son who loves skull anything. He loves it. I used a zipper for the first time and it was a pain to put in. There has got to be an easier way. I managed.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knitted Wire Bracelets on: August 19, 2007 08:54:30 AM
Ever since I saw Nancie Weissman, on Knitty Gritty,  knitting with wire I've wanted to give this a try so I did this weekend and this is what I made.

Materials Used:
#4 needles
a crochet hook of the right size
#26 gauge wire (I'm not sure how much I used, it was a left over spool from a wire kit I got)
some beads
basic clasp

The materials
#28 or smaller gauge wire (I'm not sure what size it was as it no longer labeled in my stash)
lots and lots of seed beads
#1 needles
a clasp and jump ring

Stitch Diva has more info on knitting with wire here.  If you go to my blog  post here you can get a basic tutorial for the blue bracelet.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / need suggestions for first "fancy" sock pattern on: May 06, 2007 10:25:36 AM
Hi all,

I want to try my hand at something more than basic knit and ribbing for a sock.  I'm overwhelmed at the choices on KPC and other places.  Does anyone have a suggestion of a good one or two to try?
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my first pair of socks on: April 26, 2007 03:07:05 PM
I crochet mostly but I finally got the hang of knitting. I've wanted to since forever, so I can knit socks. I can crochet socks too but I like the looks of knit as well.

I used this tutorial here to make them.  I used #3 dpns and baby weight yarn I had on hand. I made lots of mistakes but they still fit.

The next pair I want to try on two circs and use sock yarn.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / an apron on: April 09, 2007 01:34:48 PM

I got inspired by all the pretty aprons I've seen here and around. So I dusted off my sewing machine and finished this up today. You can read a bit more about it on my blog here

Thanks for looking.
8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / a tisket, a tasket, a little ribbon basket on: March 20, 2007 08:02:22 AM
I had some ribbon lying around and decided it needed to be gifted back to the thrift store or make something with it.   So I made this little basket. More about it on my blog here

Thanks for looking:)

10  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / plying - singles breaking ugh! on: February 15, 2007 10:07:46 AM
I'm trying to ply some singles and the singles break is there a way to avoid this even if I didn't get enough twist in the singles?

If it does break how do I fix it or can I ?
