1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit Duck on: March 22, 2006 03:06:11 AM
Here is my first project with increases & decreses.  My finishing could use a bit of work - but it's pretty cute!!

In the arms I put potato chip bag, I ran it through the washer and dryer first to ensure it didn't melt.  So the wings make a crinkly noise.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Increase in first stitch on: March 03, 2006 04:01:02 AM
Hi,

I'm doing my first project with increases and decreases - its a toy duck.

When I did the head, the increases were mid-row so I did the knit through the back loop to get an invisible increase.

Now I'm doing the wings - I have to increase in the first and last stitch.  My selvedge edge stitches are always a bit loosy-goosy on the needle - they are fine once I'm done.  I tried the knit two stitches through the same stitch - where I didn't remove the needle and just knit another stitch, but it really didn't work well, especially for the first stitch.

So I did the knit through the back loop - which was hard also, so I would bring the back loop on the needle and then knit it.

I was thinking - could I just do my increase on the second stitch?  I think that would make my life a lot easier.  Would it make a big difference?

Thanks.

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Bears on my Blanket on: February 26, 2006 12:00:23 PM
Hi,

I'm making Bears on my Blanket from Mary Maxim for my sister.  I'm intimidated  by the amount of yarn.  I've only done 2 crochet projects before.

Anyone done it?  Is it hard for a beginner?  Words of encouragement  welcome.
