1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Wedding dress patterns on: August 04, 2009 05:31:31 PM
I'm toying with the idea of sewing my own wedding dress - although I haven't sewn anything for about ten years! So I'll have to get some practice in. I think I'm after something contemporary.

Any ideas? Please also suggest any indie pattern sites, because this all totally new to me.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Decorating for a backyard wedding on: July 27, 2009 09:48:18 PM
I'm thinking of hiring some chairs and having our wedding ceremony at home in the backyard. (The reception will be at our favourite restaurant). Our garden is still fairly young - so I'm wondering what sort of things to plant that are fast growing and colourful. I'm also wondering how to decorate the space and put up a temporary barrier to block on the neighbours. We have 8 months.
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Icons of each country on: June 01, 2009 10:17:24 PM
I'm after a list of cookbooks that are popular in homes of each country, eg

Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook - US
Silver Spoon - Italy
1080 Recipes - Spain
The Cooks Companion - Australia
Harumis Japanese Cooking - Japan
Cook and Enjoy It - South Africa

I'm from Australia, so feel free to correct me if you think a particular cookbook is more popular in your country. Any other suggestions?
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Belt for wedding dress on: April 16, 2009 03:38:38 PM
I'm not in to the big boofy wedding dresses, so at the moment I am thinking of going with a plain white dress like this:

....and adding a really beautiful belt. I could make the belt.

Anyhow does anyone know of where I could get a fancy belt? or nice embroidered ribbon/material? or a belt pattern suitable?

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Craft Journal template on: January 29, 2009 07:24:13 PM
When I had more time for swaps, I liked to add in a themed version of a craft journal. Because postage overseas for paper based things can expensive, I've kept it to a bare minimum. You can always photocopy or print off more templates and add them, and I finding keeping a journal in a clip folder the easiest way as I'm always changing my mind.

Anyhow, heres some basic instructions on how to make your own craft journal.

   1. Find a folder for your journal and decorate the cover.
   2. Print off the craft journal template from http://gustoso.wordpress.com/2009/01/27/make-your-own-craft-journal/
   3. Decide if you are going to use plastic sheet protectors, if not punch holes.
   4. Add some white paper for sketching and some ruled paper for writing in the journal section.
   5. Decorate the divider pages (e.g. patterns, swaps, completed projects, wish list, reference, journal)
   6. Add and decorate pages as you wish.
   7. Dont forget to add photos and swatches of fabric and yarn.

Love to see your results.

Enjoy,
littlem

Print a day blog (http://aprintaday.blogspot.com/) has some cute things. I seem to remember a long notepade template that you could use for lists.
