11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Probably the silliest resin question ever. on: March 03, 2008 07:12:32 AM
I finally purchased resin and catalyst to try making resin jewelry, and I didn't think I'd run into trouble *this* early on. I can't get the stupid can to open! Does anyone have any tips on how to open Castin' Craft resin? The things that normally work for jars don't seem like they would be the smartest thing to try with something like resin. I was looking forward to a day of crafting since I'm finally caught up with homework. Sorry for posting such a ridiculous question, but I've already blistered my finger. (From the lid, nothing scary.)

The toast doesn't look so appetizing..but the painting is pretty.

14  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Addicted. on: February 28, 2008 06:23:17 AM
I don't really remember when I joined craftster, but over time I have started frequenting here much more often. I wake up and immediately after myspace and perezhilton.com, I come to craftster. I look through the hot new projects, then just the newest ones. Then I spend at least an hour just looking through old posts for inspiration. I even overstimulated my brain with craftster to the point that when I finally quit clicking through it and went to bed, I had a craft related "nightmare."

I really just wanted to post to say thank you. First of all to whoever created the site, secondly to the wonderful people who maintain it, and thirdly to all of the people who post gorgeous work that makes me hate you.

Your work makes me incredibly jealous and even more intimidated of the sculpey I've been waiting to try.

When I first saw these, I thought they were great but I wondered what on earth one would do with soup and stew sculptures. Then when I scrolled down I loved it even more.

It looks great, I would change the crust to crushed vanilla wafers.

20  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Question. on: October 16, 2007 03:14:21 PM
I have a super nice sewing machine thanks to my Mom, but so far all I've made is a ferret hammock. I've sewn a couple of things before, but nothing really fantastic aside from the hammock. I'd really like to start sewing more but I'm scared. I have tons of fabric and notions, a few patterns but they're vintage and I really don't want to utilize them until I'm more comfortable as a "seamstress."

What are some tutorials you have used that have been pretty beginner friendly? (Please, none with patterns.)

I hope this sort of post is permitted.
