I would take it back to the photo shop and ask them, since it seems to me that their machine is the culprit.
If you want to salvage the memory card and don't mind losing the pictures, put the card back in your camera and format the disk. (on the cameras i've seen, it would be something like menu-->format)
If it won't let you format, then there is a problem with the disk and you might want to just get a new one.
