1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Toxic Paint Fumes-- Help! on: May 27, 2010 03:44:54 PM
Hey Craftsters!

I am doing a class project- costumes for a play. We painted muslin to make cool looking tree-people.

HOWEVER

we weren't aware just how AWFUL the fumes were from this paint. Initially, we thought it was just going to smell bad while the paint was wet. Even after drying, the fumes are too toxic for the costumes to be wearable. We learned our lesson in choosing the correct paint the hard way.... In short, we can't afford (time or money wise...) to do the costumes again the right way.

Is there something we can do to eliminate the smell AFTER the paint is dry? We were thinking applying a sealant might help, but we don't want to make it smell even worse.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

THANK YOU!
that is such a great idea.. i haven't been on Craftster in a while, but dorm move-in is coming soon and I immediately thought of blik. I looked at their website and thought, "well maybe some day, but for now they're too expensive!"
I knew that craftster would have an answer!

I'm going to try this too. (the birds are my favorite)

Alright, so I'm a little late in announcing this-
Fremm Fest is TODAY July 1st. It is a celebration of youth culture and initiative, organized for youth by youth. Vendors (yours truly!), food, and a lot of bands will be there playing. Also, there will be live painting.
I went last year, and it was a blast!!! Please come and enjoy summer with a unique outdoor festival in a beautiful park.

It's in fullerton- more info at www.fremmfest.org
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: mp3 player cozy?? on: June 17, 2006 05:14:28 PM
how about making a felt bag for it? with a drawstring? you could just trace around it to make a pattern, it looks the bag could be like a circle instead of a square.

Here is a tute, it looks nice.

you can try claymation- like wallace and gromit. Your characters don't have to be clay; in stop motion filiming you change the picture frame by frame and a while later you string them all together to make a movie- it's like a flipbook.
you can use stuffed animals. A little childish, but you can use them to try and learn some cool camera angles. And they cooperate and do stunts too.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Postcard- Can you send these over and over again? on: June 03, 2006 06:54:54 PM
Hi!
I'm starting a project resembling pay-it-forward... but with postcards. I was wondering if someone who recieved a postcard could send the same postcard again to someone else. Does USPS do that?
