Heehee, too funny Ptarmic.  After reading LL's post I immediately went to see when Butler's Orchard was having their blackberries.  We went 2 weeks ago to get blueberries and they were awesome.
I think the MC farm tour is over. Sad

You got the mixed berries, Loves2!

I still have two sets of blackberries... Grin
Hey, I have some of that spray whipped cream in a can...that goes great with berries...want some?

Ooh, send some of that whipped cream over here.  I have berries and also better and naughtier uses for that whipped cream.  Smiley

I'd like to close tomorrow, at midnight, random timezone of your choiceish (but seriously, try and get all claims in by early evening, your local timezone).

Does anyone have a problem with that?

We do need to end this round, but I don't want to crunch the discussion we're having now because of the next round.

So we'll keep talking about this, and I'm thinking we'll start the next round this week, but it may not be on the first.

That'll give us all some breathing/updating/feedbacking time.

Sounds good Raynbow!  And despite all the talk I think that we're all happy with this swap...otherwise we wouldn't be here.  Sorry if I said anything to hurt your feelings.

Ooh, can't wait to see the messenger bags Grieney!!  I have had that as a back burner project for nearly a year now.  LOL.

This is a more personalish post, so I separated it from the previous rules type discussion.

I really appreciate how much you guys want to help, and we are listening to you and trying to work in all your suggestions to your future plans, but I do want to mention briefly one thing that DOESN'T help.

If your post starts with a quote something along the lines of "I'm taking my ball and going home."

That doesn't help.

At all.

This isn't directed at anyone in particular, there have probably been  a half dozen of these posts at this point.

All posts that start like that do is upset everyone.   No one here is trying to punish anyone.  We're trying to shake the bugs out of an incredibly complicated swap and make it work for everyone.  It's not easy.  There are lots of opinions, and they can't all come into play.  Trying to look at everyone's opinions and then everything that's going on behind the scenes and make the best decisions is HARD.

It's EASY to take your ball and go home.

If people want to leave, I can't stop them.  I'm sorry to see people go.  But threatening to leave if we don't play your way is not a good way to get your opinions across.

I am, honestly, more interested in the opinions of the people who are willing to stick it out, work it out, and try and find compromise.

I understand that some of these posts may just be born out of you guys being frustrated and upset.  But please try and think about how frustrated that those of us trying to get this all organized are as well.

I appreciate all the 'we love you guys, thanks for working so hard, etc' type posts.  But when they follow several pages of posts accusing us of being unfair, punishing people and threats to leave, they just don't really ring that true.

So please, show your love and appreciation for us by trying to keep a level head in these conversations and helping us all work together to find the best solution.

Thanks,

Vanda

I do think that there is alot of frustration going on probably because it seemed like the rug was being pulled out from under us when you announced the new rule and told us that there would be a second one that you weren't disclosing yet.  Perhaps it would have been better to have had a more open discussion of the problems as they crept up rather than just having private discussions with the other organizers and then letting us know.  I think that everyone's reaction was appropiate given the magnitude of the issues raised.  I don't think anyone was threatening to leave to try to twist your arm into doing what they wanted, but rather to underscore their frustration.  This is a great swap and I know that everyone here wants it to work!

It's a very good idea Knitwit.

While I've  enjoyed the discussion, its veering into the realm of complicated over-thinking.

YES!!

Have we ever played two rounds in a row with the same rules?  LOL!

I hope that we can just have fun soon--and we will since August is just a day away!   I can't wait to try out whatever Raynbow, Readheadskydiver, and xladyluckx come up with.  Thanks guys!!  I know what a headache this has been.

Hey, I was wondering. I really want to know what's so wrong with having the "top 7"?  Doesn't it mean that both people in the top and those who aren't choose to spend their points there?  Earlier I said that we should be encouraging those people who haven't made many sales to craft something new.  But now I take that back.  I think that there are different levels of effort/commitment from each person in this swap and we shouldn't penalize anyone for their different approaches.  Maybe those people who are not selling as much as the others are content not to.

Honestly, I feel the new rules will just slow everything down a bit and that people will still not buy things that they don't really, really want.  There have been numerous suggestions made to help those craftsters who want to sell something.  So maybe it's our over analysis of the situation that's wrong.

Have there been actual complaints from people who are not in the "top 7"?

Yay Sewknitter!  I'm glad you'll be around for the next round.  Your stuff is always so cool.  Can't wait to see the postcards!

I craft in small batches too, but since I know that I'll be busy with my little one I post them in waves so that new things are in my shop every week.

I don't think it's a problem when you have a bunch of the same item when there is a high demand for them, but once you've saturated the market you'll have to add something new if you want to make a sale.  I think some people haven't made the effort to do so, which is why I like the idea of having it be mandatory that something new be added for each round.

How about a compromise?

It seems that most people don't have a problem with the close at 7 points and only reopen when you get below 5. Rather it seems that the issue is trying to force everyone to below 5 points at the end of the round. So, how about if we start next month with just the first rule in place and if everyone does a good job for the month with spending points and not staying closed all the time then we won't need the second rule. But if we continue with the same problems this month then we may implement the second one at the end of the month.

Also, we are discussing putting a question on the questionnaire that continuing swappers add one new thing for the start of the month. But the idea of everybody adding something new once a week or by certain dates would be way to complicated to try.

Christina

Sounds awesome!  It's kinda fun seeing how this swap is evolving.  I'm sure the kinks will be worked out soon.  I love this swap.  Thank you guys for making it fun.  I know it is alot of work to keep track of everything so extra thanks to you, Raynbow, and xladyluckx!
