Wow!  What a great blanket!  Love the closeups to see the fine details and the overall shot to show how wonderfully big it is.  Looks so snuggly!  Grin

Unfortunately some companies won't take the time to do it because time is money and having to schedule pickups for organizations to come in, weighing donations, etc. means that their employees are doing something that doesn't contribute to $, not to mention what to do when the people picking up don't show up.  It's nice now that some companies realize that there is an advertising benefit to them if they engage in this kind of activity so at least there is some compensation for them.  Smiley

It's hard to have a full-time job and keep up with all this stuff.  Our main focus atm is to get the food out so we are focusing on getting a trailer and a refrigerator.  I'm hoping the auction will do well and I'm trying to get the flyers out beyond the local community, but it is hard to entice people to come to this event.  We are also trying to get our website/advertising to look more professional.  I have a friend who is donating the printing to us, but she's going on maternity leave soon so that might be a hold up. For now we are using b/w xeroxes that are free since DM is also a school program. The reality is that if Bryan really wants the organization to grow he is going to have to expand the staff which means getting a big grant so that he can hire a few people (professional fundraiser, graphic artist, web designer, etc).  ATM all we have are a few students doing the website and me. I'm sitting down with them on Thurs to see if I can't undo some of the odd changes they've made...too many chefs and all that.  LOL.

That is wonderful news!!!  A great way to decrease waste and help those in need!
YES!  It is a shame that we can't take it all and distribute it.  And this is only 1 store.  Sad
So excited, but now the hard part comes...the logistics of doing it all.  We are hoping to get more adults involved so that we don't burn out.

That is so great!

I am going to put my package of auction goodies in the mail this coming Friday!
Yay!  Thanks so much LovelyMiss!   Grin

P.S. The poster is coming along really nicely now.  I redesigned it last night and Lana approves.  Smiley  Hopefully I'll be able to share it with you all at the beginning of next week.  Smiley

FUN UPDATE!
In asking for auction donations I came across a flyer for Wegmans and found out that they donate their almost out of date produce.  I got in touch with the manager and Bryan and I met with them yesterday to see if they would be willing to help us.  Guess what?  They are!  So in a couple of weeks we will be getting foodstuffs to distribute to the needy middle schoolers.  The elementary school aged kids and seniors are already covered by other organizations such as Manna and Meals on Wheels. We are targeting middle schoolers and children 0-5 years old. The Farmer's Market has a free spot for non-profits so we're going to distribute food there!  We are now planning on purchasing a trailer to haul the food as there is alot of it.  The trailer will also be used for many of our other projects.  We are hoping to pay for most of it with auction monies and will also solicit donations (maybe gofundme again).

I'll be PMing you this morning to see when you'll be sending in your donations.  No, worries if you can't send this time.  I just need to start organizing it all.  Thanks!  Smiley

Happy Crafting!

Thank you CLM!  Smiley  This auction is a way for us to both build community as well as to raise funds for DM projects.  Bryan and I have been working on developing a project to feed hungry children in middle school.  There are good programs in place for elementary aged kids, but not the same type of support for middle schoolers, especially on the weekends.  It is still in the planning stages, but we are meeting with a grocery store next week to see about a possible partnership. Lana also applied for a small grant, but her focus is on providing fresh vegetables/vitamins to 0-5 year olds in need.

Thank you Bea!  Everything is loved!  Smiley

I love the way you tagged everything.  It looks really professional and makes it perfect for gift giving!

In a couple of weeks I'll be working on finishing up the flyers, placards, etc.  I'm waiting a bit on the flyers because some companies don't tell you ahead of time that they are donating so things show up and then they aren't included.

If any of you are still planning on sending me goodies please drop me a line.  Smiley
