Stephen Fry is one of my favourite people on TV so I can't wait to get started on his book.

The Liar is a great book.  If you like that one, definitely get "Making History" by him, it's my favourite.  "Moab is my washpot" is interesting to read about him growing up too.

The bookmarks you got with were delicious too Cheesy

26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Female friend going to New York State (and maybe city). Knitting advice nee on: November 27, 2006 09:58:12 AM
Ah yes, I remembered seeing that before, I shall point it out. Smiley  I doubt my knitting would be of a standard to do that kind of thing just yet, at least not neatly.  I can show it to the other person, I know they were stumped a week or so ago.  Thanks! Cheesy
27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Female friend going to New York State (and maybe city). Knitting advice needed. on: November 27, 2006 09:13:25 AM
I have a friend who is visiting New York State, and who might be going to the city, over christmas.  I would like to do something great for her to take.

One of her friends can knit, any ideas where I can get a new york skyline or maybe a taxi cab pattern thing for a nice warm scarf?  Any any ideas for a wool substitute that is soft and thick and not itchy, as she is allergic to wool... or do you think a wool blend might be ok if there was enough non-wool stuff in it?  I'm not sure how allergic she is, but I'm thinking not very.  Could do with the wool being obviously UK available.

So now for me.  I'm thinking I'll do a mix tape, using the info from this thread :
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=63091.0

Any ideas for other stuff?  I've had a couple of ideas, but nothing really grabs me yet.  I was thinking like travel toiletries, but by the time I give her the gift she'll probably be packed and ready!

I can't knit too well, I've been doing the "ribbed for her pleasure" scarf from s&b for a year now, just have no will to finish it. Wink
