maybe start one of 2 ways...

Find a shirt in a thrift shop that fits the way you want it to (or at least close)
Make any needed adjustments, take it apart, and use it as a pattern to make one out of fabric you like

OR

start from scratch with a basic shirt pattern.... like this one: Mccall's2094

5  Re: pink+pink+green part 2 - the skirt! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by shade_n_shadow on: July 04, 2004 07:03:29 AM
oh, this is a trend right now? (is so completely out of the loop that the loop could be sitting on me and i wouldn't recognize it)

and nope, no pattern for this one. i *cough*drafteditonthebackofthefabric*cough* starting with just a basic circle skirt. then i just figured out how i wanted it to fall and improvised from there on. this whole thing started because i have no idea what 3 freaking yards of green gingham is supposed to be. and i couldn't just keep using it as trim on pink things SO a skirt seemed like a good idea. i still have more of all three fabrics And a long lime green zipper (yum!) so perhaps a dress is next.

i like extraneous fasteners in general  Grin

got enough left to make a lil shirtdress???
this one only takes like 2 yards to make, and I thik it's be cool with the green gingham and pink accents:
