1  Name pillow[s] for a 6-yr-old in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by cantafruit on: January 17, 2008 06:35:22 AM

I sewed them together after taking a picture to make one giant pillow [about 27" long] so she can put it on her bed or hang it or whatever. My son's comment "Mom, the first letter is supposed to be uppercase!" [so much for appreciation...]

Do you think she will like it? It's super soft fleece [fabric remnant at JoAnn] stuffed with polyfill.

Thanks for looking!

2  old t-shirt + tulle = 90% [3-year-old] ANGEL dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by cantafruit on: June 20, 2007 08:28:10 AM
I had this adorable conversation starter tee from my teen years "90% ANGEL" and sadly it had some stains so I couldn't wear it anymore. Luckily, my daughter is a lot like me so the inscription fits her attitude as well Wink

The recon involved 1 stretchy tee, some rubber band [top of tee], 2 yards of tulle [skirt - on purpose not fluffy and straps on the tube top [you can tie them].

Result - birthday dress for a happy princess. We are going to a bouncy place for her 3rd birthday so she will take the skirt off for bouncing and wear shorts Smiley

Thanks for looking!

3  Re: I Want What I Can't Make Gallery in The Swap Gallery by cantafruit on: June 04, 2007 05:12:01 PM
Hey, I just received cool stuff from riario!

On the picture, clockwise from left:

two sock monkey making kits [one for each of my kids!], a skirt for me [fits perfectly!], 3 sets of beautiful earrings, a bracelet, a delicate necklace with additional pendants, a sophisticated journal Grin, 3 bracelets for my daughter [Hello Kitty is always welcome in our house] - see her leg? she snatched the goodies already; 3 headbands for my daughter and hairpins too. My son got 4 airplanes and candy, not shown, because it simply dissolved in the Arizona oven maiblox Angry

detail of the girly stuff!!

and this is the proud owner of the airplanes. Don't mind the jammies, he just likes to wear them early Cheesy

Thank you so much riario, I was delighted to have you as my partner. I hope you will also be happy with the stuff I made for you!

edited to add: the necklace has also matching earrings, I forgot. duh. I hope riario takes better pictures 'cause this jewelry is so pretty I will not be able to decide what to wear when!

4  Re: Further to the thread about kitties... (IMG HEAVY) in Stitch And BOTCH by cantafruit on: May 30, 2007 10:06:51 AM
My stinky furball sweet kitten also loves to hang out next to the sewing machine. She lays as close as she can to the sewing basket, tries to get spools of thread out and then drop them on the floor... gives me the "uh-oh, it feel down!"-look and jumps down to hunt them Grin She also HAS TO sit on fabric while I am cutting it... and on yarn while I am knitting - which was a big problem because I have a swap partner allergic to cats. I had to put all the yarn in plastic bags which freaked her out.

PS. I also have a home office. Every time I print something out she races me to the printer, snags the paper that comes out and chews it to pieces Huh

I already submitted this bag on the Debbie Stoller Stitch n Bitch board. I hope it is OK to post it again for a challenge!

Here is my favorite movie star, knitted based on the picture from my wists. My sister made me a chart.

6  husband said he just wanted ME for his birthday so... in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by cantafruit on: April 02, 2007 11:00:54 AM
So there you go, DH! A mini-me complete with the same top, jeans and undies [not shown here but trust me, she is wearing them!!!]. Since there are kids looking at these boards, I will just mention and not show the following - vagina, boobs with nipples, pubic hair Grin [trimmed] hahaha

Why are we grumpy? Well because we already turned 31 last week hahaha.

Oh, the humongous eyes of the doll are an insider joke. When we were looking at my baby pictures, my husband said: "Wow you used to have gigantic eyes, like an alien!" Me: "Yeah but then my head grew into them..." Him: "Well..."

So there they are, the huge green alien eyes he loves so much. hahaha.

The ideal man, never talks back, always warm, never leaves socks around the house and carries all your stuff. Of course unfortunately no sex.

The pic I took to do this can be seen on my wist.

8  Activity book for a 3-yr-old - give or not?? // img heavy in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by cantafruit on: January 28, 2007 11:50:13 AM
My friend's son is turning 3 and I made him this activity book, but now I am unsure if this is just not good enough... what do you think? Particurarly how the glue bulked out some of the [paper] pages... ugh. I honestly need an opinion if I need to toss it? I must add this is a very good friend so even if this is crappy, she will still say she loved it!

All of the buttons, snaps, zippers etc. open and close and are glued and stitched to cardboard.

cover:

page with zipper [hidden under the buttons]

page with snaps

page with colors/shapes

page with buttons

page with backpack snap

last page

Thanks for looking, if anyone knows how to fix the glue thing or has any honest, semi-nice feedback I would appreciate it... Huh

9  Re: OY SCAVENGER HUNT ATCs, Round 5 (Jan. 19) in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by cantafruit on: January 20, 2007 09:30:02 AM
OK I am inspired! Please be gentle this is my first card ever Undecided

I used some coupons from the mail and a croutons box. The original looks a lot better, I don't know why the picture turned out so crappy. Might do a scan next time.

10  crochet al dente in Crochet: Completed Projects by cantafruit on: January 12, 2007 04:14:03 PM
Crocheted standard spaghetti, generic brand, 1 minute undercooked, greased with vegetable oil. Method: a very thick hook and later fingers. Stitch: chain. Result: Yummy. Maybe an idea for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner for a patient, long-waiting housewife and her spouse? [this is supposed to be a heart]

Hope you like it.
