11  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Am I dreaming?? on: February 15, 2007 03:40:10 PM
I'm sure I read a review AGES ago saying that there was going to be a second 'Knitted Babes' book?Huh

I can't seem to find anything about it now.  Huh

I don't want to have to trawl through 2 years of copious magazines to find it!!!!!  Grin Roll Eyes
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lambs Pride- this stuff rocks- right?? on: January 20, 2007 12:34:41 PM
Ok, I'm in the uk, and fortunate enough to have Get Knitteds' new shop a drive away, so I went to the opening and saw they have 'Lambs Pride' in stock. This stuff is good isn't it? I think they had Red Heart too, another good one?? I'd not seen these in RL before.

I'm sure I've heard you guys mention this stuff on here, so, go on, tempt me into buying some!! They had both the worsted and bulky in the LP, so what is good/have you knit with it?? How much do you get per hank? (A hat, mittens to match?? etc).
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / anthropologie shrug for a baby, now, if I... on: January 19, 2007 11:20:41 AM
If I used 4mm needles instead of 8mm and DK yarn, wouldn't it come out, theoretically, half the size?? It's for a tiny 3 month old baby, so whatever small size it comes out, she will fit/grow into it!!

If I follow this, do you think the down-scaling would work, or will it come out odd shaped?  Undecided

Anyone made one for a baby??

I finished my third for myself today, but think it's just a few stitches to small across my back/around my arms. I'm hoping I can wash n stretch it just a bit. (Ironically, the first is perfect, the second a bit big, so I guess it's followed the sequence, wonder what the next one will be??)  Roll Eyes
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / making a top-down hat (ok, batman mask) on: January 16, 2007 03:03:42 PM
My friend, who maddeningly cut off his mohican not long after I slaved over working out, and knitting him a hat 'with the holes in the right places for his spikes to go through' wants a batman mask/hat, whatever you'd call it.

I think it would be much easier to make top-down, but have never done a hat that way.

Do you think if I started with say, 6 stitches and did k1,mk1 to increase in the beginning, etc, it would work??

also, how do I go about the eye holes?? would 2 yo's make a big enough/tidy enough hole?? (I'm sad to say, my mate is slowly going blind, and only has sight in one eye, so just need to look good, don't need to be too practical).  Undecided  Sad
15  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / American idiot 80's inspired flag bag on: December 30, 2006 02:53:25 PM
MY daughter loves Greenday, and I wanted to get her a bag for Christmas, but the prices were waaay too much for what you got.

I had been chatting to friends about the canvas army bags people painted themselves, in the UK, in the 80's, and had seen a few similarly recently, so thought I'd have a go.   Shocked

Ok, so I bought the bag and patches etc, but got some fabric paint and came up with this;

She thought it was amazing, and didn't realise I'd made it until later that day, she thought I'd bought it!!  Grin

(The link says knitting, cos thats where I'm usually found on Craftster!) Mucho confuso!!  Roll Eyes

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / is a boobholder/minisweater possible on 2 needles?? on: December 10, 2006 02:17:57 PM
I hate using circs, and I've tried twice to start a minisweater (in GGH's Coco) on circs, but I just don't get on with them.  Sad
Is there any reason why the pattern calls for circs, because I've looked it through, and I'm wondering if 2 needles may be a possibility... I've wanted one of these tops for AGES!!!  Roll Eyes
17  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / when painting acrylic onto a canvas bag.. on: November 20, 2006 03:12:34 AM
Ok, how do I seal it? Is there any kind of varnish I can use that won't make the fabric rock solid and won't crack?? Are acrylics ok to use??

I want to make a Green Day 'American Idiot' green flag bag for my daughter for xmas, but some patches 'n badges etc on to decorate.

I've found a black canvas, army surplus 'pack' bag which is perfect for the job, but I want some info first before attempting it.  Grin
18  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I know what shrug I want, but need to find it! Help!! on: September 07, 2006 02:37:15 AM
I have 3x 50g balls of a soft, slubby yarn that knits up on 8mm needles (but would go smaller with no probs) I REALLY want to make a shrug, a 'one skein wonder' type thing, with short, cap sleeves.

Anyone seen something like this??  Huh

I have made my own simple pattern up before (its somewhere on Craftster, calle 'the bathroom shRUG') but it was most forgiving, the bobbly yarn meant any untidyness didnt show!! This stuff, however, will have to be from a definate pattern.  Roll Eyes
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / TRILOBITE found, make a friend for your Nauties!! on: September 06, 2006 02:38:49 PM
Ok, this isn't my pattern, but I found this link on knittingpatterncent ral and I HAVE to have one!!  Cheesy

I have made SO many Nauties, I was so pleased to find my fave fossil had also been immortalised in knitting!!  Cheesy (It has a touch of crochet on it too).

They look a little complicated, what do you think?? (Someone make me one, cos I don't think I can!!)  Undecided  Cry  Roll Eyes   Wink

20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting survival instincts... on: September 03, 2006 01:51:59 PM
Oh, whats a girl to do when the urge to knit takes over in a tent in a pitch black field in the middle of nowhere??  Huh

...GLOWSTICKS!!!  Grin

One pic is how it really looked in the dark, the other is with a torch shone on me.  Cheesy
