1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Money Belt Alternative? on: June 17, 2009 05:05:41 PM
Hi all you lovely craftsters!
This summer, I'm traveling to Europe with my sister, and we need some way of carrying money around. I've shopped around for money belts a bit, but I'm not crazy about any of the ones I've seen. I tend to wear tighter clothing and money belts seem lumpy (and I don't really want to stick my hands down my pants in order to get money, either  Roll Eyes )
Do you have any suggestions of how I could make some cute, clever money holders?
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Art Project Help Needed on: February 20, 2008 09:14:02 AM
For my Art II class, we're supposed to make collages, and I'm absolutely stuck! This is what I have so far...

Sorry for the small size and the rather poor picture quality Roll Eyes

We're allowed to use any media, and we can cut the edges of the paper, let things hang off the edges, etc.  I made some flower blossoms for the tree, but the top space looks too blank. I was contemplating having hands coming out of the sky with strings attached to the fingertips, and the strings attach to little birds, sort of like marionettes. Or I was thinking about having two hands cupped together so it looks like they're releasing birds, which would be flying out of the hands.

So, you crafty people, any ideas?
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Making a board game..? on: October 30, 2007 04:58:37 PM
So, for English, we have a project to create a board game for Shakespeare's The Tempest and I'm at a total loss for what to do! I have a partner, but we need to come up with an idea for not only rules for the game but an actual board as well. The game can be loosely based off another game, but it's better if it's not. Does anyone have any ideas as to some rules for some not very well known board games that could be adapted to The Tempest or any ideas as to how to make the board?

5  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Uptown Girls shirt. on: October 28, 2007 10:33:17 PM
I was watching the movie Uptown Girls, and in one scene, Brittany Murphy was wearing this adorable lavender or grey (I don't remember) shirt with ballerinas on it. But I can't find a picture of it anywhere! Does anyone know either who the designer is or where I can find a picture of it? Thanks  Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Chiffon? on: April 29, 2007 12:01:29 AM
Hey everyone!
I want to sew a dress that has chiffon on it, and I was wondering what your experiencs with sewing chiffon have been. Is it hard to sew? Is it better to use a machine or to handsew? Are there any tricky things that chiffon does? Any help would be greatly appreciated Smiley
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Cocoa butter substitute?? on: December 31, 2006 06:28:15 PM
I'm making a lotion, and the recipe calls for cocoa butter. The trouble is, I don't have any, and going out and buying some is not an option. I don't have shea or mango butter either. The closest thing I can find is whipped body cream or just plain ol' butter. Is there anything I can substitute instead, or is what I have okay?
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Christmas table centerpiece? on: December 10, 2006 03:24:45 PM
So this year I've been put in charge of making the centerpiece for Christmas dinner, and I have NO idea what to do.
The main colors of the actual table settings are gold, maroon, and dark green.

I was thinking maybe something with cranberries... maybe some pine boughs or pine cones... maybe some fruit or something to mix it up. Any ideas Huh
Thanks!
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Quadratic formula...? on: November 12, 2006 03:01:22 PM
Okay.
So in Math, we have to memorize the quadratic formula in a "creative way" such as writing it on a cake, making up a song/story, etc. and bring it in to class tomorrow.
Does anyone have any crafty ideas of what I could do?
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Boy style undies? on: September 26, 2006 07:41:41 PM
So, I think boy undies are cute, and I want to make myself some. And I don't mean boy-cut. I want something to this effect:
(sorry it's kinda small, but you get the idea)

Would it be best to embellish a pair I already have with ribbon, etc. or is there some sort of pattern I could use...?
