1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Need Pattern Ideas for a yarn on: April 15, 2006 02:54:42 PM
Hi Ya'll. I am fairly new to this site, but am already enjoying it very much.

I am hoping you all can help me. I bought some yarn today that I just couldn't resist. It is an older yarn, from an older lady that owns a LYS near me. She likes to take her old yarn and mark it down to get rid of it. So lucky me I got this yarn for $1 a skein. Now I don't know what to make from it!  Cry

This is all that it says on the label:

46% angora  39% Lambswool 15% Polyamide F.
Count 1/2500
Made in Italy
6-7 needles
Conditioned weigth [not a typo...this is what the label reads]
weigth 20 GRS (0,70 oz)
length 55 yds

It is a beautiful, sport weight, cream color with a hunter-ish green and in the green is very small flecks of color, like purple, yellow, red, etc. I couldn't pass this up, and now I have 15 skeins of this yarn...at $1 a piece, and her regular price tag said $4! Now, what to do with it?

Normally I make things to sell, but I am afraid that I wouldn't get the price I would ask for something made from this yarn, [most people don't really know the value in hand made things and don't want to pay a lot...at least around here] so I am wanting to make something for me.

I mostly crochet, and I am teaching myself to knit, slowly. This yarn looks better knit, but beings I am a beginner, I may have to stick with crocheting it. I am not really in to hats and scarves, and I am afraid that may be my only choices with such a little ammount of yarn.  If any of you have any ideas on what I can make from this, let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance! Grin
