Are you in for a treat or what! Chicago has a great slam/spoken word scene. Look into Louder Than a Bomb, a yearly slam going on in the next few weeks. It is the largest youth slam in the known universe. more info available at youngchicagoauthors .org. YCA also runs a youth (read high school to twenty somethings) open mic every Tuesday. The stuff there is usually quite good. There are several other places that I can tell you about if you want but those are the best. If you want more info, just pm me.

try Lill Street (http://www.lillstreet.com/). They teach a lot of jewelry classes. not sure if it is exactly what you are looking for, but if not, there are tons of tools there and tons of really knowledgeable people.
