11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Sheet Dress! *PIC OBESE* on: February 28, 2008 03:04:09 PM
This is Bailey.

She is nuts.

She decided that she needed a dress made from a Pokemon sheets and said she's glad her other half (me!) sews, so she drew this.

But it turns out, she has no Pokemon sheets. So she gave me a turquoise sheet instead.

Presenting, The Amazin' Poke Jumper (in turquoise)!

As modeled by my floor

Pocket detail. Star button!

Strap detail. The buttons are a random yellow one, a 'B' for Bailey, and a star. The buttons that actually hold the jumper up are blue/green stripey.

Bailey actually wearing it. In the center of the band hall, mind you.

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Lucky Skirt on: December 30, 2007 01:56:38 PM
And a potential misleading title. . . Grin

I wasn't sure where to post this skirt, but since I got the flowery fabric from the remnant bin and the black bands from an old T-shirt, I decided it could most closely be identified as a recon. Sorry beforehand about the blurry/dark photos. My camera/computer aren't working very well together.

Front!

Back!

Close up of pleats! There are two inverse(I think they're inverse.) pleats on the front and one in the middle of the back.

Close up of the bottom. I wanted the flowery part to be emphasized by two black bands and I wanted a slimmer shape in the skirt, so I gathered the bottom hem and sewed it to a black band that's the same size as the waistband. No idea why it's black/white.

I also wanted a tab closure. (Didn't quite work out as planned.) The edges don't match up exactly as depicted, but I made my own button hole! I wanted it to fit around my hips instead of my waist, but it ended up a teensy bit to big for me because I forgot about the stretch in T-shirt material.  Sad

I still like it! And if you were wondering about the title, it's a look inspired by Lucky magazine AKA my fashion bible!

13  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First Project! The now infamous pithy hat. . . on: November 21, 2007 08:22:13 PM
Yeah, everybody's made one of these now. But I made one! For me! And I never finish anything!

Pithy hat from Little Turtle Knits!

Horrible attempt at a self portrait of own head.

14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Homage to my busy schedule. . . on: June 26, 2007 07:37:19 PM
And my instrumet of choice!
I've been busy, busy, busy forever. School, work, AP testing, vacations, more work, but now I've got (half) the summer to relax.
So what's the best way to unwind? To create of course!

Before:

I got this shirt at our marching band's UIL competition. . .or rather my dad bought this shirt at out band's UIL competition. An XL.

Shown with one of my perfect fit tees for sizing. Mmmm, Johnny Depp.

How big does he think I am?

After:

Cute! Side rouching and a boat neck instead of a boring crew neck T-shirt! *Ignore the mismatched pants, poor model-esque pose, and ungroomed hair.

Modeled on my floor. You get a better idea of the ruching. I like that the sleeves look longer.  Smiley

Close up of logo. Yeah, you wish you played the flute.

15  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Reconstructed doll help on: December 19, 2006 12:17:12 PM
I'm trying to reconstruct a doll and I need help with the hair. I've dong the re-rooting thing with Barbies before but the baby doll's hair is harder to get out. Is there an easier way to get the hair out other than sitting around with scissors and pliers forever?

This is her hair. . .I know. . .and I've already picked out one row.

The inside of the head. The hair is stitched in there? It's harder to get out than a Barbie doll head!
Help?
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Newsboy hat gone awry*IMG Heavy* on: November 11, 2006 08:38:57 AM
I used this Wild Things! Pattern Maker I downloaded to make a newsboy hat. But obviously, I didn't measure things right. The brim ended up being too big, so I cut it off and it actually made the hat some type of skull cap thing. I like it this way, so I'll guess I'll leave it and try again later! On to the pictures:

Ooh! Hat!

Back of hat! Do you have any idea how hard it is to take pics of the back of your head?

Nice side view.

Peekaboo!

It is equally hard to take a quality picture of the top.

Fun with hat!
17  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Calling the crafty! on: November 08, 2006 06:05:57 PM
Basically, I'm trying to raise $3,000+ to go on a 10 day trip to Europe (London, Paris, and Madrid!). I need fundraising ideas for something cheap, easy, and marketable. I'm mostly a sewer although I am open to any ideas (except knitting. I can not knit.) Please help me raise money to enjoy this cultural experience! Your help is greatly appreciated.  Smiley
18  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cosmetic Bag for Sweet Sixteen on: November 02, 2006 06:25:33 PM
My best friend Colleen turned 16 today! For her birthday, I made her a nice makeup bag and put some makeup in there.
The bag:

Close up of fabric:

I've made a skirt out of this fabric before too.
Close up of button closure:

Inside of bag:

Don't mind my hand or the makeup inside.
Thanks for looking!
19  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Band Night on: October 05, 2006 04:31:13 PM
So, in band we have a "Band Night" and it's customary for everyone in a section (ie: flutes, tubas, French horns, etc.) to buy the seniors of their section senior gifts. I'm the kind of person who likes to give gifts that actually mean something, that are not generic, and it'd be really cool if we (underclassmen squad leaders, Emily and I) made our gifts! Or if you could just make suggestions, that'd be cool. As I'm not really friends with either of the 2 girls we have to get gifts for, make suggestions! Pretend they're you!

This is Katherine. She's the senior squad leader and dead pimpin'. I love Kat. Everything I really know about her, I learned on Myspace (sad I know, but it makes it slightly easier to get her a gift without her knowing) Enjoy:
Im Katherine, & I am happy.
first of all, I make being short look cool. my current drivers lisence says that I am 5 ft 6. yeah right.
i love music.
i love photography.
i love writing.
i love singing to songs that have meaningful words.
i am seventeen, and will be my desired age when the counter says i should. (she's 18 now and her counter reads 'Till Baylor makes or breaks me)
i am finally a senior.
i love taking pictures of myself & the ones i love around me.
(i am a camera whore.)
i never capitalize the letter i online. [its more scene when you dont.]
i use question marks after sentences.
i am currently second chair flute in the marching band.
face it, we rock your panties off.
some people like to call me weird.
i bite my fingernails mercilessly.
i am a hopeless romantic.
i trust people waaaay to easily.
i love driving around late at night with best friends.
i love jones and izze soda.
i love boys with long hair.
i am afraid of what lies ahead.
i am going to try to live my life to the fullest.
i sometimes get in trouble for not caring what anyone thinks.
i get jealous easily when it comes to my boy.
the little things are always the most important.
i could not possibly survive without eyeliner & lipgloss.
i love eating and being in the snow.
i love going to rock concerts.
bad grammar just flat out makes me want to slap a hoe.
misplaced modifiers make me want to knife the pope.
i am obsessed with yoga.
i am a pretty good belly dancer.
i want a puppy.
i try to always be honest, but i tend to accidentally mix things up a lot. (that sometimes gets me in trouble.)
i have a bad memory sometimes.
i make fun of emo kids.
i am agnostic.
psychology is what i want to spend the rest of my life doing.
i tend to be very unpredictable.
i am very, very impatient.
i have learned to be independent.
i put my keebler fudge cookies in the microwave.
speaking of cookies, i could eat a million of them. i love cookies.
i can put my legs behind my head, uncomfortably.
the joints on the left side of my body are double-jointed, but the ones on the right aren't.
i hate being in large crowds.

i draw on my mirror with dry erase markers. i throw my CDs around. i can't sleep unless my door and closet are closed. i duck my head slightly when i am hypnotized by a movie. i hate cardboard. i recycle every piece of paper that comes down my path. sometimes i think i am temporarily bipolar. i think if you are going to speak English, know how to write it like a true believer. the only way to win my heart is to have sharp wit with a twist of crude humor. double entendres make me happier than a clam. i love laughing, and pepsi is my drug of choice. i am a caffiene and water addict, and could live off of chinese food.

P.S.- Kat talks a lot. Grin

I have no pictures of the other girl, Kristi. I'll try and find one. I also have no information on her as she has no Myspace and her boyfriend is retarded (he gave me absolutely no info. on what to get her and they've been dating for about a year now). But she's our drum major and she's nice. Her favorite color is blue and she seems like a classic kind of girl to me (she's pretty in a normal way. Does that make sense?) She likes Christian music, if she were a color she's be aquamarine, she likes softball/baseball, ham is her favorite lunch meat, and she likes karate.

I'll just have to find some other way to stalk her. Oh well, you guys just post what you think and keep crafting because I think I want to try some of the things here. . .

20  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Peekaboo! on: August 17, 2006 04:46:55 PM

Ron monkey sees you!
After the sock monkey challenge ( I made the Hermione monkey.), I gave the monkey to my youth minister. He loves Hermione. And my friend saw it and wanted a Ron monkey.

I based it off this pic.

Close up of shirt/robes/tie. He has no pants. Pants are way hard for something that tiny, at least for me. Besides, if I got Ron I'd want him with no pants. . .

His wand is a twig too.

For his eyes, I painted two white buttons blue with acrylics because I didn't like the blue buttons at Wally World. I had to keep adding freckles because I kept smudging them! They're acrylic paint too. As is the mouth/nostril area.

I am however, most proud of his hair! I made a monkey wig!
I love this monkey more than the Hermione one. I want this one to be my ballot monkey. Vote for me!
