2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My first two purses ever!!! on: August 13, 2006 02:19:25 PM
Well, I finished both of these purses about 3 weeks ago. Since no one seems to know what's wrong with my sewing machine, I had to do it all by hand, that's right By Hand!! It was hard work, but well worth it when I saw the end product. There was no specific pattern, I just did whatever came to my head. The first one was made fom a pink blouse that was stained. The second one was from a big purple skirt.

Here is the pink tote made from a blouse. BTW, those are cupcakes, not parachutes, lol

Here is the purple purse..Its my favorite. I dont have any interfacing so its a little flimsy

..So do ya like?
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / purses that don't need interfacing on: July 14, 2006 05:28:23 PM
I have a question...what are the best purses to make without interfacing..you know..ones that won't look super flimsy if interfacing is not added. and, what are soem interfacing alternatives?

thank you sooo much for putting up with me ...those pictures are so helpful......i know i didnt lose any pieces, but it seems that my machine doesnt have that lil metal part that your white arrow is pointing at. but it looks like my machine is just like that..minus the metal part that i dont have....i swear the machine was working before i decided to try to rethread it. i knew i shouldve looked at how the darn bobbin was before i took it out!!! but im doing everything you said. and the bobbin just moves up down, up down..i dont see how the thread would even get to the needle like that..i know i know, its not for me to see. oh yeah, if this helps any....i have another slit in the bobbin area right across from where the white arrow is pointing..i hope that makes sense. It seems like i'll never ge it.. i know im getting annoying so i might just have to give up right now, and wait until i can go to AC Moore *craft store* or some other place so they can show me. Dnag, im so anxious to get started...... I refuse to try to handsew my clothes..theyll fall apart as soon as i put them on.....i'm sad.... Sad

but if anyone still wants to put up with me, i'd appreciate it

spaz2phreez: thanks for posting the link, that is the exact machine

mmd32: thanks for putting up with me..you are being such a great help! and you are not sounding patronizing at all. its still not working though. i think its because I dont know exactly what you mean by a "slit......there are  2 places that have little grooves or openings. i thought i knew what you meant until you said to pull til it reaches the end of the slit. so could you (or anyone)  please help my dumb self figure out what the slit is??? and after this, is the thread hanging out of the machine?? I'm slow, I know Sad

mmd32: these are the most detailed directions i have gotten yet...i new that slit on the side was for something but its still not working and im still confused. you said to pull the loose thread through the slit in the side of the casing, til it engages and ends up coming out of the little hole in the side of the casing. i think i know what slit you're talking about but i dont know what little hole in the side of the casing youre talking about. I also still don't see how the thread is going to catch on to the other thread because the slit seems far away from the hole that the needle goes through. i also kept the bobbin cover off to see how it works..when  i turn the knob the bobbin just moves up and down i guess..i thought it was going to spin or something..again im a newbie so i dont know..

and two kill 2 birds with one stone: if it ever does thread....where are the two strands supposed to be placed? do you lay the bottom one under the fabric or what? thanks
