1  Dandy Dandelions! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by kelleys on: July 19, 2006 11:41:09 AM
Just did this today:

I took and old plain canvas bag that needed a facelift and dyed it green, then hand-painted some dandelions on it.  Now it's a quite friendly bookbag!

Was the original cup and saucer white and you transformed it by drawing a cherry blossom ?  I would like to try out this craft. Can you do a tutorial and recommend any books and websites?

The cup and saucer were white originally, and I painted the interior of the cup and the majority of the saucer pink.  The trees I did freehand - however, I would think that chinese brush painting books would have some great images to go off of.  I searched some online and found this one, which  is perfect (and puts my silly things to shame!)  -

As for the technique I used to paint mine: I painted the tree trunks and branches first with a dark brown, then stippled on layers of different shades of pink.  Really very simple.   Then, the cup and saucer were fired in a kiln, and voila! I had my finished piece.

So, in a desperate attempt to spruce up my drab dorm walls, I went crazy with some sticky-tack and good ole' spare change.  What do you think?

...hoping this will post properly...
