Just did this today:




I took and old plain canvas bag that needed a facelift and dyed it green, then hand-painted some dandelions on it.  Now it's a quite friendly bookbag!

The cup and saucer were white originally, and I painted the interior of the cup and the majority of the saucer pink.  The trees I did freehand - however, I would think that chinese brush painting books would have some great images to go off of.  I searched some online and found this one, which  is perfect (and puts my silly things to shame!)  -



As for the technique I used to paint mine: I painted the tree trunks and branches first with a dark brown, then stippled on layers of different shades of pink.  Really very simple.   Then, the cup and saucer were fired in a kiln, and voila! I had my finished piece.
