Hey BatGrrl! Yes, that is John Lennon but he sort of got a little distorted. It was from an old Smithsonian, I almost used all of the photos from an article about glasses, Elton John & Gloria Steinem, however, I don't like Elton anymore, so... Thanks for posting the photos, I forgot to take any. I have been listening to Fred Leblanc's concert, you must have one heck of a living room!
BTW- The graphic from the song list was from a site about surveillance and being able to see through walls... Pretty scary really! Notice the cat. I would have loved to claim that myself, but let's give credit where it is due.
Everyones stuff is so cool. I received from Sapphire Stiches and am thrilled, but still need to hunt down one more package. An urn to place my heart in. I love the owl face, he is so expressive.
A box to organize my stuff, there is a piece of edging in the box I forgot to photograph separate. All wrapped in this anchient papyrus
I also got some peices of mokume gane, a metal laminated to creat wood grain, they are not finished so the aren't much to look at right now, but I can't wait to play with them! It is very expensive to buy. She also made a very cool banner for my Etsy shop in which I just sold my first thing at last week! Thank you so much SS! You are great. Barbara
I have received from everyone and have been having a great time listening to the CD's. I have to say I was quite spoiled by my swap partner BatGrrl. I got the book and two extra CD's from a live show by Fred from Cowboy Mouth in her living room! (Did I get that right? The CD is in my car...) I also got a cute CD holder, but she went way out on the tunes themselves. I stuck a bunch in the CD player at work (I work in a salon) and my coolness quotient went way up with the younger crowd. Which is good, since I am the old one there, but really the only ex-punk, but I don't look it anymore, I remember when you had to buy your collar at the pet store, not the mall. How can any store at the mall be alternative? Ah, but I digress.
I am sorry I haven't written more, I did not know life was going to explode into spring, so thank you everyone for the great tunes, food for thought and some songs my husband did not already posess. I hope you all like the CD I made, it ended up being quite mellow and slightly Americana in flavor. There were so many songs I wanted to add, I should have just made more discs, next time...
OKie Dokie! Here are my cuffs! I finally got the pictures (my daughter took them and wants you all to know that), sorry Kitten Wrangler that it took so long! I have worn them to work and love them. Here is a picture of both:
One is kind of quilted with a stich running through as a design element. The other is cross stitch flowers with these great magnets for the clasps. Everyone wants to know where to get them.
That bracelet is lovely. I've been thinking about etching, but haven't been motivated quite enough yet. Your method returns really interesting results (I mean that in a good way). I'm used to the clean lines you usually see, and this is really organic. (Or it could be the stamp?) Anyway, very nice.
Yes, it is the stamp. The emsossing powder doesn't melt perfect either. I like organic in my work so I let it go. I suppose if you wanted real clean lines you would have to stencil or paint with the regular etch resist that is like tar, which I do have, but it is so smelly to work with and time consuming.
Like a crazy girl, I have been lurking around this gallery, watching as everyone else's creations were posted.
I really regret now that I forgot to take pictures of the one I made. Hopefully my partner will... In the meantime, the waiting time, I've been inspired. I've been making more cuffs for my own greedy pleasure. And, well, basically, I want to show them off. *shrug - bad habit of mine*
I'll take photos. I can't wait to get it! I saw that post yesterday and started to get very impatient.
All the cuffs on here are so nice, I need more wrists. I used to be a ring addict but ran out of fingers... Discovered my wrists now where to go??
