I turned it into a bubble dress, cinched the waist and added a band of ribbon stuff that was also at the thrift.

so fun! i've made a few before but i had to add a clasp to finish them off- how did you put the two ends together?

okay, I'll try to walk you through it via text.
on the piece you started with, the very first one, you'll notice that the folded bit of wrapper loops over the inside bits. lift this loop bit back and hook the most recent bit to it normally. Then slip the loop back over it and they should be connected.
I'm really sorry if that doesn't make sense. It's like teaching origami without pictures.

Needless to say, it was a first, all the seams are slightly wonky, my gathering sucks, but I learned from it. Made from two tees that my friend was going to give to the goodwill. It's really comfy to wear with tights and a tee along with my recon legwarmers. The red fabric is 100% organic hemp & chocolate .
If anybody has advice on sewing jersey fabric, gathering, or general whatnot that would help me in the future, please share! I'd love to hear it.
