oh zaftig, me too! seriously, all i've done is cut out the pieces. Sad they're all laying on my sewing table, waiting to be pieced together. lately i've either been crazybusy or just haven't had the ambition. i think we ALL need a good, swift kick!

i need to learn to not multitask so much, i think it slows me down. i have two sewing projects pieced together (or just in pieces) and two knitting projects on the needles and several jewelry projects! christmas is just two months away....Wink

reese, i'm doing view a. i work as an interpreter and i can't have big sleeves like view b, even though i like that version, too. i figured i'd make one first that was useful and then make the one for play. Smiley

i still haven't had time to do much, though.....this afternoon, maybe. after a loooonnng nap!

i despise cutting fabric, too. it's the part i hate the most! that and bobbin winding....yuck. booorrrinnng.....

so this is what i've got done so far:

all my pieces (minus two) pinned down. they are all cut out, now, but i don't have pictures of that. i'm going out of town for three days, so they're going to have to stay in pieces until i come back sunday and can work on it a little bit.

i'm using a slightly different pattern (simplicity 4072) so i haven't had any problems with the pieces being upside down or anything. i didn't lay out my pieces like how the directions said to, because they had a lot of wasted space and i guess i like to conserve my fabric. Smiley

we'll see once i start sewing how it turns out. i expect to sew things wrong, because i always do, but thankfully my seamripper is my best friend. the only thing i'm even slightly worried about is the interfacing - i didn't buy any! and i don't think i have any on hand. i haven't had time to go checking for it.....think it'll be much of a problem?

have a great weekend ladies! happy sewing! hope you're feeling better, zaftig....i was having a pretty sucky day yesterday, too. it was until my husband came home with flowers and a new shirt from j.crew. Wink i'm a sucker for clothes.

ok...so i finally bought the pattern and some cheapycheapycheap fabric, since i couldn't find the fabric i really wanted. i figured i could sew-a-long with a mock-up, right? Smiley

so question for you all - should i go by the finished measurement size on the back of the pattern or the measurements at the top of the back of the pattern? the top measurements say i should be making one size, but the finished measurements say about three sizes smaller than that!

this is why i hate using patterns and vowed never to use them again! i'm not so good at making my own patterns, though. so i have to alter....but ugh! i don't want it to be too big, because that's a waste of fabric, but i don't want it to be too small either.   Undecided

what kind of yarn did you use? i'm horrible at yarn substituting, especially when the recommended yarn is online  Undecided

awesome job and great use of colors!

Thanks - when I set out to make this, I cheaped out a bit, and did it in an acrylic (washer and dryer friendly is our lifestyle here) - so used the red heart TLC, in solids and heathers... I regret not having used the better stuff, which would have cost more but not THAT much more <sigh> - so my next wearable project (the pirate jacket in knit.1) I'm already amassing the moonlight mohair for it.

good to know....thanks! i don't like the price of the better stuff, but i also don't like that i can't see the color and texture quality with my own two eyes and hands in real body. a pixelated version of navy blue may not be quite the navy blue i'm wanting or it may go with the pixelated version of raspberry pink but when they've arrived (and you've spent all that money plus shipping and handling) they clash horridly.

i guess i could just risk it and then if it doesn't work, save the unwanted yarn for later use. because, really, who couldn't use more yarn?  Wink

that is so pretty! i've been wanting to do this for forever and have been following the knit-a-long. but, alas, i have yet to store up my time and savings to buy all the necessary yarn. Smiley

oh that's right! sounds gorgeous! i wish it got cold enough here for velvet. i love it so....jersey knit is about as warm a fabric as i can stand here in the near-tropics. although.....we are going to maine in october for our anniversary.......which reminds me, i gotta start my sweater, too! and halloween......not enough time!!!

No worries annie, I didn't take it the wrong way

whew......yay! my meaning sometimes gets lost on this great wide interweb. if you love it, yay! i want to see it all together. Smiley i gotta go back to the other thread now and refresh my memory about your fabric. i remember it being pretty but i don't remember the specifics.

oh no! Embarrassed i totally didn't mean that i was trying to convince her not to do the lining! i just meant i hate them, and if it were my fabric and i found out it was too sheer, i'd find alternate means because i hate making linings and i hate wearing them. i'm sorry! i didn't mean to imply anything....

hahahahaha....you're right! it IS a cop-out! Smiley i'll try.....i haven't gotten my fabric or the pattern or anything! whoa...i'm beind the times. anyone know where i can get a nice deep navy blue knit for really cheap that doesn't require a lining?

zaftig....if i were you i'd totally throw that fabric out for this project.....i hate linings with a capital H! Smiley too much work.....
