1  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / My Hallowe'en Masterpiece! on: October 30, 2007 08:38:15 PM
So, I was watching Martha Stewart last week, and she and a guest carved Celtic knots on 'funkins'-fake pumpkins. Now, I live in an apartment, so a real pumpkin isn't very practical for me. So I went on down to my local Michaels and picked one up and set to work. Two days, a plethora of tools (including, but not limited to, a regular pumpkin carving knife, a motorized pumpkin carving knife, and a dremel tool), and some glue (unfortunate accidents) later, I have the coolest thing I've ever made.

Here it is unlit, a little rough looking, but still cool:

And lit with an eerie light (actually my iPod with the backlight's brightness turned all of the way up):

SO HAPPY WITH IT. I think this is going to start a post Hallowe'en fake-food carving extravaganza!
2  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Discussion and Questions / Darn Superwash Sock Yarn on: October 09, 2007 07:51:06 AM
(I was advised to move this here from the knitting board-hopefully someone can help. Cheesy)

Okay, I have a question. I just came across http://kneek.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/holey-heels/ <---this tutorial about darning knitted socks with roving. Great idea! I think to myself. One of my pairs has started to wear through already.

Buut...I don't have any roving. I do, however, have yarn leftover from knitting the socks in the first place. So, this brings us to my question.

Will superwash sock yarn needlefelt? I would try this myself but I'm in the process of moving and therefore all of my needlefelting stuff is packed away.

Thanks in advance! Cheesy
