1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Birdy collage from old Christmas cards on: January 08, 2008 08:13:58 AM
I wasn't sure if this was best here or in paper crafts but it's definitely art so here it is Smiley

I reused some of my received Christmas cards to make this 3D bird collage as part as a year long project to reuse/recycle waste in inventive (hopefully) ways and then document it on my blog.

What do you think?
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Joining in on the Inchies fun... on: January 06, 2008 04:41:45 AM
I haven't posted here for ages so hello everyone!  I've been loving all the inchies the talented lot here have been turning out so I thought I'd have a go.  They're for a specific theme- I'm taking part in a journalling challenge called Paper Adventure 08 and the first theme is Balance.  So here's my page for that theme made up of inchies:

I'm quite pleased with my first ever set of inchies- the start of a new addiction maybe?
3  U.K. AND IRELAND / ENGLAND / Londoners- looking for vintage/crafty shops on: April 05, 2007 03:33:06 AM
I'm heading down to the big smoke tomorrow morning so any ideas of areas/roads to visit to find cool vintage/antique/junk/craft shops or markets?  I know the obvious areas like camden and portobello road but was wondering if there was anywhere else (within zone 1)?
Thank you Smiley
4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / A multitude of Spring cards (pic heavy)- new cards on pages 2 & 3 on: March 22, 2007 02:33:45 PM
I've been making lots of cards lately what with Mother's day this month in the UK and several birthdays.  So here are the cards I've made this month, all with Spring inspiration (in one way or another!).

Green fabric, a button and a heart craft punch:

Vintage fabric, a button and red ricrac:

Fabric, button and tissue paper:

Fabric, vintage music sheets and pen:

Fabric, ribbon and buttons:

"Springette" No.7 made from a button, a ticket and pen:

Thanks for looking, feedback welcome. Smiley
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Patchwork purse on: March 10, 2007 11:09:46 AM
I made this purse based on the one in the Crafter's Companion.
It was very easy, I made it a little different to the book as I didn't blanket stitch the edges and used the lace trim as the fastening (the buttons are just decorative.

I'm going to give it to my Mum for Mother's Day (next Sunday in the UK).

I'd love to hear what you think of it as it's the first item I've sewn for a long time.
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Clowing around and around and around... on: December 30, 2006 09:46:26 AM
Here's my first ever challenge entry...

The clown is fastened to the card with a brad so he spins around (and around and around).

Here he is upside down, poor chap...

He may be my favourite ATC that I've made.

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Best stitch for lettering on: November 27, 2006 05:32:01 AM
I have an urgent plea for help!  I need to do some pretty small lettering on some craft felt and I need stitch advice- I've tried backstitch but it just looks too angular.  What's a better stitch for creating the curves in letters?

Details of swap:
OK some of this is "borrowed" from other ATC swaps to try and keep it consistent.  Any questions just ask!

Each participant will make three Geisha themed cards and send them to three different people and receive three back in return.

No DC# is required but you will be required to re-send if your card isn't received three weeks after send out.
Due to the small size of ATCs, International posting is expected from all participants as it does not cost much more to send  internationally.

An ATC is 2.5in x 3.5in only- no larger, no smaller.  On the back include at least your user name.  I usually put my full name, swap name and a date on as well.  Other people number their cards.  Please ask if you're not sure what to do.

Any media is allowed e.g. paint, ink, fabric, collage but don't make them too thick as people store them in card holders and if they're too thick they won't fit.

10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Geisha ATC swap on: November 21, 2006 02:56:11 PM
Here's another ATC swap idea that was discussed over in the largest ATC swap gallery.  Memoirs of a Geisha is one of my favourite books (and the film wasn't bad!) so I'd love this one to happen!

I'm happy to organise so what does everyone think of the idea?  If you're interested how do sign ups starting after this weekend sound with send outs 2-3 weeks later so we should be OK with the Christmas post (I think)?  And how many do you want to make?  Just one to keep it quick or three to three different people or [insert idea here]Huh

Any thoughts fellow ATC fans?
