11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / what to do with huge man pants on: August 18, 2008 12:41:32 PM
My brother-in-law gave my husband a pair of dress pants. They're too big for him so I asked if I could have them (not mentioning that I planned to cut them up and do something wonderful, hee hee).

Ultimately I would like to make these into a cute pair of those knee-length fitted shorts for myself, but I've never sewed pants before, so I don't know if that would be hard.

The material is nice, and it's not thick so I could easily sew it on my machine (unlike denim, which my machine patently rejects). Any tips for how I can recon these? They are size huge, so I'll have to change everything: waist, hips, crotch, etc.

RAAR grr ugggh! I eat the magnets. I lived in Paris for a year and even though we bought tons of souvenirs for our friends and family, somehow we didn't end up with any for ourselves. I'm jealous!

I too am making seconds of some of the stuff I sent vegiegirl. Of course, I'm down to just the scraps of fabric now, so I've had to improvise a little, but I like that I'll have something always around to remind me of my first ever unicorn zombie apocalypse!

I mailed my junk! Woohoo!

I immediately got to work crafting on a shirt my mother-in-law gave me. It's way too big. I saw a lot of posts in the Reconstructed Clothing forum about turning men's button-downs into cute puffy-sleeve tops, so I tried that (the shirt I have is also button down).

Unfortunately, the shirt is now too small... it doesn't button over my boobs. DOH! Fortunately, it still looks cute, so I'm thinking of wearing it open, like over a tank top.

I don't know about you guys, but participating in this unicorn zombie apocalypse has totally lit a fire under my crafting ass.

I can't find the picture.  When it flips back to my "member chainswarm" it says there are no pictures, even though it just said it loaded...

On the upload page, did you have "Skip upload" checked? I don't know why that option would be available on the upload page, but maybe just check it wasn't accidentally selected? I just did a practice upload, and it worked. On the browse page, I found my image, and clicked the FIRST of the two upload boxes (the higher one), ignoring the checkbox and the lower upload button.

Then when I went to my picture hosting, there it was!

Renee, your picture always makes me smile.  You look like you're clapping at something that made you really happy.

heh heh, I use that picture for all my web forums and such. My friend took it a few years ago when we were out for sushi... see the beer bottle on the left? It's one of the best photos of me ever taken. My hair's a lot longer now, but otherwise I still look pretty much the same!

I finished, I finished! Yay! I just have to find a box.

I was so excited to get back to crafting last night, I was sewing up a storm!
