51  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Best type of yarn for amigurumi? on: April 18, 2006 09:28:12 PM
I made my first little amigurumi animal, but it didn't come out that great. I used Lamb's Pride it is too fuzzy I think.

What do all you use for amigurumi?

One other question, I haven't crocheted much in a long time and was wondering ...

For amigurumi, do you go through back loop, front loop, or both loops?

Thank you! Cheesy
52  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First fair-isle project ` Monkey sweater on: April 06, 2006 02:32:51 PM
I recently took my first knitting class. I am mostly a self-taught knitter, but couldn't figure out how to do two-handed weave-in fair isle.

The class was great and now I can't wait to find something else I can't figure out, so I have an excuse to take another class Grin

I wanted a small project to use the new skill, so it didn't get immediatley forgotten. So I sorta free-styled a little monkey sweater.

here it is. Cheesy

There are few spots that are sorta messed up, but this monkey said he liked it better that way.  Wink

55  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Tare Panda ~ Made from Socks on: February 21, 2006 10:15:02 PM
I started making sock monkeys about 2 years ago. I asked both my little brothers what kind of sock monkey they wanted ... niether one wanted a sock monkey though.
One of them asked if I could make him a Tare Panda...
here he is

I used one white sock and one black sock and felt for the eyes. Just a bit of stitch shaping for the sorta droopy cheeks.  Cheesy
56  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Flower tote bag, Felted- with Picture on: February 20, 2006 08:18:54 AM
I think this project wins the longest I have ever let a project go on for. Wink

This pattern was in the Winter 2002 issue of Knit It!

In a section labeled "Weekend Wonders"... knowing how long it took me to finish it that is almost a joke.  Grin

I used the same type of yarn as the pattern called for, (Lamb's Pride) but not all the exact colors (which I regret in the case of the yellow). I found out that if a yarn has been bleached it doesn't felt as well.

The flower is especially neat because it's all one piece and is knit in a spiral, the layers stack on top of each other. I will certainly make the flowers again. Only not out of that yellow color.

57  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Tiniest hat and scarf ever on: February 17, 2006 08:46:52 PM
I just got these Tiny sock monkeys in for my site and wanted to make them a bit cuter...
So I made little hats and scarfs for them.   Cheesy

The scarf is just a chain and the hats are only about 5 rounds I think.

58  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Too much content? Opinions wanted please on: February 16, 2006 09:54:56 PM
We have been brainstorming lately and adding stuff to my sock monkey site...
Have we added too much stuff to it?
Is it still easy to navigate?

Thanks so much for input! Smiley

59  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finished a Felted Hat just in time for Summer... ha ha on: February 15, 2006 01:54:39 PM
I just finished a felted hat, now that winter is nearly over.

I found the pattern for it here http://www.lewiscraft.ca/project01.php?innum=3503
I used Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Bulky in single strand instead of the 2 strand worsted method they used for the pattern.
The color is Chocolate Souffle guarenteeing Id buy it. hee hee

60  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Little Simple Apron Dress for Doll/Sock Monkey with Instructions and Pictures on: February 13, 2006 10:34:55 PM
I just finished writing the pattern for a simple apron/dress I like to make for my monkeys. The pictures of the actual pattern pieces didn't turn out well enough to post, (and I still don't own a scanner... silly me)  but since the pieces are just rectangles you don't really need them any way. All you need is a ruler. Smiley

here is a pic
