1  Painted sandals in Shoes: Completed Projects by hawkeye on: July 12, 2013 06:32:05 PM
I don't know if anyone else has this trouble, but every year when its time to buy sandals I can never find any I can actually walk in the women's section of the store is always filled with flip flops that are much better suited to beach wear than going a few miles with your dog.Wink Seriously I almost dropped about 100$ because women's walking sandals seemed to be such a rarity. For some reason cheap walking sandals only exist in the men's section, so I decided to turn men's sandals into women's sandals with some purple tulip fabric paint.

Here is what they looked like pre-paint

and post paint and a coat of pledge floor wax

2  Bronze belt in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by hawkeye on: April 03, 2012 04:49:51 PM
Does anyone have any ideas how I might go about making this belt?

I hope this is the correct place to put my question, it seemed to me to be more of a piece of jewelry rather than a functioning belt.  Wink

I think the white leaves are just straight panels sewn together horizontally then sewn to the waistband of the skirt, and the green leaves are sewn separately to the same waistband.

Here's a pic of what I'm getting at since I am in photoshop already - the upper on layer 2 line is a waistband.

I took Sunday and a remnant of this corset, and came up with this wallet for our charity auction. I initially wanted to make some sort of one-size-fits-all skirt but I couldn't find a style I liked.

The fabric is light blue and super sparkly (seriously I was about to go cross-eyed sewing it), though that makes it almost impossible to get a good pic of - I tried twice!

The top little fold over is of the wrong side of the fabric for added effect. Wink

7  swimwear in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by hawkeye on: August 11, 2009 04:25:17 PM
My mom and I have been planning a trip to the beach...for a couple of months now. And by a miracle we both had time to make our suits..We are going tomorrow---for sure for sure. My mom used this pattern, from 1966, I actually got this one on ebay for myself, then literally threw it over my shoulder when I found out it called for cotton - good thing she caught it. Cool Cheesy
