1  WWII silk scarf. in What the heck can I do with THIS? by ohohitskelly on: March 11, 2006 07:19:44 PM
My grandmother has been cleaning out all of her stuff at her house  because she's going to be moving to assisted living soon, and she knows I'll take & use just about anything, she's giving a lot to me.

She gave me two of these silk scarves, that her uncle (?) gave her after he was in WWII. They're beautiful scarves with maps of the world on them, and I don't know what to do with them. I can't just keep 2 of them sitting around.

(The last picture is my sad attempt to show how long they are. They're about 2.5 ft long)
Ideas? Thanks Smiley

2  Anyone know what these things actually are/do? (image heavy) in Discussion and Questions by ohohitskelly on: March 11, 2006 07:06:12 PM
My grandmother, who was the goddess of all crafting, now has too much arthritis and other problems to use much of her things, so she is in the process of giving it all to me. I am very thankful and overwhelmed and overjoyed.

But, after going through the boxes and bags of it, I found some things that I weren't sure what to do with, and I don't know if they're just random things, or things I just don't know about.

Maybe you can help:
(I apologize for the poor picture quality)

Notes: The metal rods are thin and easily breakable, and have a hole at the top.
The seconds things I plan to use for belt buckles, as I don't know what else they'd be.
The last two items seem to be handmade, and are about the size of a thimble.

Thank you Smiley

3  A simple tote bag is always nice. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ohohitskelly on: February 26, 2006 06:53:38 PM
I stenciled the letters and hand-sewed the heart onto this tote bag tonight.
I bought the tote on sale a while ago, and wanted to do a little something to it.
It's plain and there are a few mistakes, but I like it, as I'll be using it when I go shopping instead of plastic bags.

4  Thimbles? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by ohohitskelly on: February 13, 2006 12:15:13 PM
I have about 9 thimbles, that I won't use for their actual purpose.

Any ideas of what to do/make with them? I hate to let anything go to waste.

5  Remember those "butterfly" hair clips? in What the heck can I do with THIS? by ohohitskelly on: February 13, 2006 12:13:43 PM
I just found a ton of them in my closet, and I know I won't actually wear them in my hair, so I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what to do with them?

I was thinking of using them to hold papers or photos on a string, but any other ideas would be nice  Smiley
