18991  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Mini Art Quilt Swap 3 (Sign-ups CLOSED, Sendouts Sept 7) on: July 30, 2010 11:58:36 AM
hmmm--I do know that on my first Kenmore, Singer actually made the machine and it was numbered using their numbering system...that machine is from 1969...my two other Kenmores are in the 300's and 400's--I will check the old machine and see if maybe you can use that manual...I know Singer still makes a 600 series but nothing in 605 either!

I love a good mystery! Cheesy

And since I am doing research today at work, why not research sewing machines! ha ha

Are you sure that is the correct model number?  I did a quickie google search to see which one of my manuals might be similar to your machine and there is no such number coming up...it appears that anything Kenmore 605 is a garbage disposal!! Cheesy

I have all of my small pieces sorted by colors in 15 bins...they sit on a tall book shelf...

It is the other larger bins that I need to catalog...I sort of have them sorted by type of fabric: upholstery, fleece, denim, flannels, cottons, and then sort of by categories: clothing, accessories, toys, etc.

Since I am doing more sewing now, I think I might need to make this a priority...when I was doing a lot of papercrafts, it forced me to clean my room and get all of that organized...I can find anything I need for paper and jewelry and yarn, but not fabric and patterns...

This has been a longtime struggle--I think I posted the same complaint 4 years ago so it is time to take action!! Cheesy  get my procratinating butt in gear!

I have several Kenmore manuals--I will look to see if one of the is similar...after my first Kenmore, I never had to use the manual again...I think back then, the machines were as simple as they get...

My newer machines take a degree in computer science to run Cheesy

Thanks for posting that link...you can find a manual on just about anything on the internet nowadays!

But, for the most part, except for the bells and whistles, they all work the same so don't be intimidated by your machine...I doubt that there is a machine out there that is smarter than a craftster who wants to sew! Smiley

The Star Trek stuff is awesome!  The likeness is exact, but I am afraid I will always be in love with the original guys... Wink

The potholders are also well done in great colors!!

Everyone's quilts sound like they are going well in these planning stages!

When I used my regular sewing machine to quilt, I set the pressure foot on to the lowest setting and it seemed to keep the fabric in control but loose enough for me to move it around...I used packing tape over the feed dogs to make it glide even better and not catch on the fabric...

I also use a glue stick for a lot of art quilts...just to hold it until I can sew it on or quilt...

Can't wait to see the gallery filling up with your creations!
18998  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Pompom stockinette scarf. on: July 30, 2010 10:12:08 AM
It is a lovely scarf!  I think that if you did it consistantly throughout, it would be an interesting look with the ridges...I like it...

After years of knitting, I still find that I make that "mistake", but I really don't care... Cheesy...at least I get it done!

Love the fun colors and pompoms!

awesome list!!

I agree--I need to redo my list and analyze why more is not getting done...I think it is because as KLKing said, I am way more spontaneous and just make stuff as I get inspired...I have completed a total of 109 projects this year so far yet only 17 were on my list... Cheesy

That skirt is amazing!  I love your little peace symbol design!

The bracelets are also pretty amazing--the red one is my favorite...

The hats are a favorite style and so well done...(cute little guy!)...

The packages in this swap makes my old hippie heart happy!! Cheesy
