14821  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Epic Bedspread made from our fave old clothes, pic heavy on: May 06, 2011 10:49:50 AM
I was worth the work to make such a memory quilt!  It is way bigger than I thought---well done!  I especially love all of the pops of color!

Oh man, TSM--sweet dress!  I just dragged back 15 vintage sheets from my mother's closet...I was going to just cut them up into pillow cases or maybe a vintage quilt...

OMG--did you guys notice that she matched the print on the pockets! Cheesy I had to point this out...hope you don't mind TSM...I love that kind of sewing detail!

snowball quilt is looking great...

A2jc4life---ha ha I was wondering why my friend, who is a kindergarten teacher and new mother asked me to make her skirts that go midcalf!  I never thought about the practicality of them since she is on the floor so much!

gotta go look at the blanket, CLM!!  edited:  Turned out great!

spiffyhink--I also love yo-yo's...I have had a yo-yo necklace on my to do list for some time!

Love how romantic your necklace looks!

The quilt is really cool looking!  I think the colors are fabulous together...I am glad to see that you did the seams on the t-shirt side...

Thanks to you, kittymom13, I have learned about the snowball pattern...I think I am loving it!

love the rooster plaque--especially since it is customized to someone's likes!

Good to see such busy bees!  So much to catch up on..just FYI, I went MIA to deal with huge family drama...but, things are settling down especially since I have chosen to step out of the mess Smiley...I realized I needed to live my own life since I can't help my troubled relatives anymore!
Nuff said...I am back!

Can't wait to tackle the challenge--I love purple!

I loved the black and white embroidered dryer balls, ysmeine!

aprettyness--wow--you are on a sewing roll!  I laughed so much to read that you used two fat quarters to make a skirt!!!  honey, two fat quarters would make me two pockets! ha ha

I loved all the cute clothes you made for yourself!  I think I will challenge myself to sew something for myself...CLM sent me the most beautiful fabric to make a skirt that I started last year...this is the time to use it up!

CLM--you baby quilt was nicely done!  I hope you don't mind that I snagged the design since I was looking for a pattern that used a focus fabric...plus, I am so into big squares designs...Cheesy

A2JC4life---the nursing top is so clever!  I know last year in clothing I saw a dress that I would wear because you would NEVER know it was for nursing!  Sure beats the old "boob out of the bottom of a t" that I remember from the 70's!! Cheesy

TSM--did you use a pattern for that apron top?  I could use some simple tops this summer and I have some batiks to use up...very cute!

Kittymom13--what a fun garden project!  The yellow "shelf" is eyecatching with all of the items hung on it!

qazicat--your little bunny was so cute!  Your paper cones were probably a hit with your co-workers--they are so festive and it looks like you were generous with the chocolates!

I truly did get some things done, noteably, 11 quilt tops...so I did destash...Cheesy...and I have gotten some great ideas here!
14825  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Snow and Sky winter hat on: May 04, 2011 08:12:42 AM
What lovely colors and the pattern is very textural!  Hope you feel better and do some "serious" crocheting...ha ha...I would never feel like crocheting if I were sick, but I am a whuss(sp?)...ha ha great job, Mio!

I saw one being used and it looked like running one of those floor sanders...ha ha both hands on the steering wheel...wow...I think if I do a huge quilt, I will see about rental rates...there is one here in Harrisburg but the woman who runs it has pretty scary rules and seems short on the phone...Sad

So glad you finished! I was so excited to see mine!  You made this an exciting and fun project for yourself...I know that you and your family and friends will enjoy the tiny pieces you worked so hard to collect and put together!  It does look like a great little quilt!

Congrats to you and for all that helped you...wow!

This rocks!

Thanks Alwaysinmyroom!

Come on post the tops! Then get into gear! I wish I had a quilting machine!

Oh, it is not a long arm quilting machine...I wish!!!....it is just the one I use with the quilting foot and is all set up with the computerized stitches so I can free motion!

I recently looked into getting a long arm quilter...but unless I do a lot more quilts, it is not in the cards for me right now!

I have been thinking a lot about quilting lately and how it has changed...it has actually depressed me in some ways...I remember what fun I used to have hunting for the perfect fabrics and playing with patterns...it seems like to me that there are so many "canned" quilts, with all the fabrics all picked out for you...it seems that I see the same fabrics in the exact same way...I almost hate the online stores that sell in "themes"...I was on Etsy and saw an entire quilt made of charms just sewn together...where is the creativity in that?  Is anyone else bothered by this?  I guess it is for some people...maybe beginners to at least try a quilt?
I hope it is not a  trend and that people like you guys continue to create fresh and individual quilts, inspired by others, but uniquely your own!  OK--off soapbox now... Cheesy

I will post the tops and then get to quilting now that I found basting spray... Cheesy

I seem to be stuck at piecing everything and then stopping...I think it is because I do not want to clear off my huge table to put my quilting machine on it...lazy days ahead...I was going to post the tops but if I do, who knows if I will get them done...or maybe if I post the tops, I will be kicked in the butt by you guys to get them finished! Cheesy

Love seeing your quilts, alwaysinspired!

kwiltykate--what an adorable baby quilt!  The owls are precious, especially with the personalization!
