Sadly, many large stores in our area closed or are closing...they often have sales of their display things...I managed to get a couple of pretty sturdy ones that I was thinking of turning into bean trellises...maybe some paint and some embellishments might work...what are you thinking of using bobery?

Sprouts would be great to add to  the salad idea that kischenbitch suggested!

I am thinking maybe we should do thrifty garden things in April...I can't plant a lot until May, but there are other things that can be made or done...cute garden stakes, birdfeeding ideas, fun trellises, garden art on the cheap?  Anyone up for that instead of the virtual shopping?

14784  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Homemade Black Walnut Syrup (same method for making maple syrup) on: March 28, 2010 09:53:38 AM
Thank you for posting this...I have at least half a dozen black walnut trees on my property and had no idea you could collect the sap...I am in the frugalalong and have been trying to find ways to be independent and find ways to cut food costs!

I will definitely look at the links and the book...now I will have two uses for my trees!!
14785  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Alphabet Inchies (Send outs 4/21) on: March 28, 2010 09:08:43 AM
I am just insane to be in two swaps with the tax deadline looming!!  What was I thinking? ha ha I operate best under pressue...

I have my backgrounds done and now...all I have to do are the letters...they are the most work on mine...I printed out my partners and wrote what letters each get and what I am suppose to get...otherwise, screw up city for sure!!

yeah--I am totally freaked out by swaps because there seems to be way too much work with everyone having to take pictures!!  but, you know if you don't, then if something gets lost or the swapper flakes, you have no pics of your hard work--UGH!

I am waiting for one of my partners to post pics, too! Sad

Thank you--it was a quick way to get it done and now that it is hanging in my dining room, I can tidy it up a bit (I added a bit of purple to the background to show up the peacock more..) and guests can see what I do in my spare time Cheesy

Thanks soorawn--I wanted the inchies to be the focus, not the peacock...I am experimenting with other ways to display as well (the inchies are put on with museum putty so I can remove them if necessary!)
