Thanks!  I followed your guide to do some HD and some DC and also some treble(?)...it was almost instinctual--like I sort of knew where it had to be higher and lower...oh wow..I winged it! Cheesy

Thanks redflags...I actually just winged the pattern...once you know how to make a hat, it is pretty neat how you can change things up just a little bit and use the basic pattern! Cheesy

I want to give credit to April Draven for her past sharing of her awesome patterns!

Thanks rackycoo...I do better with yarn than with embroidery Sad
14653  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Everyone Needs a Beard on: January 10, 2011 05:11:46 PM
I decided that everyone needs a disguise for those special days when you just don't want to face the world. So, I obsessed on making a yarn beard to help me out.
As usual, the project grew to include various accessories associated with beards:

bread crumbs (made of painted latex foam from an old pillow)
snot (made of dried up hot glue)
grey hairs
and hidden inside, a cockroach

You can use your imagination and add a multitude of other things...like sunglasses...a kerchief...a pipe...

And see, it works!  Guess who!? Cheesy

I gave it away to a friend who is crazier than I am, so if you don't recognize someone who seems familiar, remember, it might just be the beard... Cheesy

Oh--and do not wear this to a bank...I will not be responsible for anything that might happen if you do (disclaimer suggested by my attorney...)...Wink

I found some more pics so I am going to post them to close out my 2010 list!

This is a little wooden purse I painted for a friend of mine.  It is lined with red felt for her daughter to be able to hide her little treasures!

Apron for a friend--she is a graphic artist and illustrator so the fabric was perfect!

Here are the motifs that I turned into equal sized squares to make my eventual afghan.  The circle was a bit of a challenge for me but I think it turned out pretty "square":

14656  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Small footstool saved from the demon trash bin! on: January 10, 2011 04:23:16 PM
My brother was about to throw this out.  Of course, I had to try to save it.

Simply recovered it with curtains that my sister was going to throw out (geez, am I the only one in the family who keeps everything?)...added new hinges, and "viola", a useable footstool with storage for my craft supplies catalogs!

Also, for Christmas, I got a new chair for my computer.  There was no longer a need to cover it like I did with my old one with an unused snuggie...but I figured I would make a matching seat cushion since I am always in my room Wink.

You did a GREAT job stitching in the ditch!!!  That is why it is not seen!  I think it is the easiest for new quilters before doing other designs!  I just know you are going to love it and try new things fearlessly!

I am so glad you posted...I love seeing the art of quilting passed on to those who will love it!

Your log cabin is done very nicely--can't believe how careful you were and the lovely fabrics you picked on both!

I agree yofi--it is the process I like the best and not necessarily the finished project...

btw--I loved your cowl and fingerless gloves--also that felted drawstring bag was beautiful and practical!
