I am not going to look...just what I need....another distraction/project! Cheesy

Yes, sometimes it is hard for me to give up stuff I know I will not use...I get a bit of "seller's remorse"...and sometimes, I go for what I gave away and remember that it is gone...my new rule is that if I have it in my stash longer than 2 years, I probably will not use it...the exception is basic stuff like polka dots, stripes, solids, etc.

I give a lot of my stuff to people who might be able to use the fabric for utilitarian purposes: there is a great group of women who make tote bags for hospital patients of all ages...there is a teacher who teaches at risk girls and boys how to sew after school...people who could use the fabrics to cut up for other projects, etc.

ha ha at my age, I doubt I will ever use the fabrics I bought to make bikini's or halter tops! Cheesy

Thanks for the info on the locker hook!  What an interesting tool!

first of all, that rug is very very inspiring...I made a simple t-shirt crochet rug inspired by pinokeeo and now I would love to try either a weaved one or the hooked one!  They are so special because they are made of stuff you already have!  I think more than ever a craftalong for that would be a terrific motivator and a way to learn how to do it!

What kind of tools do you need to make a hooked rug like that?

Also, it is nice to know that everyone has different motives for destashing...I think I am sort of in the same boat as scrappysue...I had years of excessive crafting supply spending and now I want to scale down to supplies and things I truly love to work with...

I have given away a lot of things that I am not enthused about working with...yarns that a beginner might love or fabrics that I bought when there were little kids to craft for...I have also given away some very special fabrics that I no longer want because my job situation has changed and I do not need any nice clothing for work (jeans and t-shirts are all I need now)...

You guys are inspiring and motivating...I can't believe I actually dug around and found that silly skull fabric and started laying out my pattern...I have had that fabric for at least 3-4 years... Cheesy

I have joined no swaps for August on purpose so I can craft my stash and do my 50 projects as well!

wow--it looks terrific!  About how long did it take you?

I love that you recycled clothing into this beautiful piece!

This is perhaps one of the most colorful galleries!! Cheesy

The butterfly is yet another adaptation...how lovely using a shape would be to add to another item like jeans or a purse!!

ScrappySue--love your method of doing your pillows!

I am sticking to doing mine in my messy way just because I tend to be neater than I want and this is really letting me feel like a kid first learning to sew by hand!
ha ha

Keep those ideas and pillows coming!

Well, then since it isn't cheating, I may start working on some images for future photocopying while I wait for my journal to arrive. I wonder if you can put watercolor paper through a copy machine? Wink
I ran some images onto watercolor paper last night...I had to cut the paper down to fit as it would only go trough the individual sheet feeder of my copier and I did have to pull it through in the end to help it spit out...I loved how it turned out and now I can watercolor over the image without it smearing all over the place...

bethieb--so like you to jump right in and go for it!!  I love your beautiful watercolor papers...they seem to fit your storybook theme!  I also like how you did it right on the paper given...I like the start of your cover as well...and the house sewn in is a great idea!  wow--you are kicking our butts to get going... (sorry to hear about your family situation as well...hopefully crafting will help you with the stress of it all!)

I think one of the best things here was your weaving...it is obvious you love it and you have shown a wonderful way to use up crappy and good yarns to make beautiful things!

You can start any type of craftalongs in this board (just read the rules first, please!)...are you talking about any type of rag rug?  I love the t-shirt one I made and pinokeeo made a huge fabulous one as well!  I think a few people were interested in the toothbrush rug...hey, if it does inactive, fine, but jump in if you like!

I tend to agree--it is hard to find things in the "black hole"... Cheesy

I think I will also need to rethink the lining, especially with washable bags! Cheesy

omg--I saw that in the newest projects and had to go look...you do such beautiful work...and, I am pleased that things are going well...so excited and will be sending positive vibes that this will come to fruition SOONer than later! What a gorgeous piece it is....

It is that joy of making things that I would like to see more of...I was feeling like I was a failure for not destashing enough and found that I really didn't want to reduce my stash as much as I thought...just a psychological thing, I think...

I am more motivated by positive outcomes so I thought it would be good to look at my stash as a wonderful place to shop for things to make for myself...not a panic feeling that I had to get rid of it!

Yeah--I need a hoodie for the cooler days spent outside in boot camp! Cheesy
If I am going to sweat, I might as well sweat stylishly! Cheesy
