14161  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Question about steam tower (Menu) on: January 05, 2011 08:40:30 AM
Oh--what a nice steamer!!  I have a two layer one!  I never make anything fancy in mine--steamed dumplings mostly, veggies, fish...reheat rice, goyza, I printed the book to use with my steamer, so thanks! Cheesy

I got a rice cooker once that was suppose to have a recipe book in it but did not...yeah--the company was not much help at all...

I really like the idea with a basket of ornaments, friends can pick from.

but you have to watch those sneaky friends...some of them try to get one of each kind Cheesy

omg--how do you get in so many quilts waggonswest!!!

I have two on my list and I will barely get them done!! Cheesy

I pinned my list to my wall to see if I can get focused...it is right next to the medication that is suppose to help me with this affliction, so maybe with the two things, I can get my list done with some random projects thrown in! Cheesy

ha ha -- My self-imposed swap ban went out the window with this one...but then of course, I had to go look at the ATC and Inchies Swaps...then the various Mod swaps...this one will be my focus for January as well! Cheesy

The face is what made the vine creepy... Cheesy

You did a great job on that, Troublet!

oh--I forgot to mention how I loved the metallic yarn work on the steampunk girl!!

I got some metallic threads from Sublime Stitching--the ad said it was "trouble-free" thread and easy to use...since I do not embroider much, I had no idea that metallics were a problem! wow--not for beginners, I guess...but I would love to try it someday!

oneredbooot--it is a tradition with my friends that they drop by and get to pick out a handmade ornament out of a basket in my foyer...I also attach them to bottles of wine or plates of cookies, so I need lots and lots!! Cheesy

That tree skirt is gorgeous!  I need one for me and one for my niece..she has a blue/white theme each year while I do a more traditional red/green, so it will be fun to make two...

I love the picture ornaments!  They would make a great gift for my niece to put pics of her kids in each year!  They look fast and easy to make!

Oh wow--I am glad that I am not the only one who makes things with no plan for what to do with what I make! Cheesy

I am intrigued by the process and I like trying new things...yeah--I have a whole bag of goodies that I can throw in for a swap or else give when the right person comes along!  I make a lot of jewelry but I rarely wear anything except earrings!

ooh those are so cute always! I experimented with making felt balls a couple of nights ago but they seem a bit more...hairy than yours are in the picture. I probably should have kept working them, but my hands hurt at that point lol.

Lapoli is my go-to person for everything yarn and felt!  I will confess that it took me forever to roll and roll and roll the wool...I now buy them in bulk from etsy...the amount of time spent was not worth it to me since I use them by the bagful! Cheesy

Felted soap is my favorite...I buy that as well now... Cheesy...but I have some regular soap that I will cover with roving to felt since I am spoiled by the softness of felted soap...

Those are really pretty!  Are they for you or for gifts?

I think the book One Yard Wonders is a great go-to book for quick gifts and it really is nice that most of the projects are practical and fairly easy for the beginners and yet for more advanced seamstresses, you can really add your own touches...I recommend it as well and usually have a couple of copies on hand for swaps and for my students! Cheesy

jadeye--you should see about getting a shoulder wrap/cowl in this swap!  I love mine because it does keep your chest and shoulders warm without drawing attention...amazing what a little yarn goodness can do to keep us warm...brrrr...freaking 20 degrees today...I hate winter!
