14141  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: ~Picadillo a la Habanera (Ground beef Havana Style)~ on: January 06, 2011 06:51:39 AM
Just wanted to pop in to say that I have been loving your posts!

I grew up eating foods like this but never learned how to make them from the cooks!

I will definitely try this one!
14142  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: 2010 Clothing Featured Projects! on: January 06, 2011 06:39:25 AM
You were such a beautiful bride!  The day was made special because you did such a beautiful job on the dress...the color was outstanding for your brunette coloring!

Thanks for sharing your special day and your project with us!

Hope to see more projects in 2011!
14143  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knifty Knitters! on: January 06, 2011 06:34:42 AM
ha ha thanks to laughinglark and her loom obsession, I think I am now obsessed as well...I had a handmade loom made from a spool of thread that made small cords...I think that small one would be great for making ties (I am trying to design a knitted apron for a friend and I wanted the ties to be strong and knitted as well!)...

I will never complain about my yarn stash ever ever ever again superhooker...ever...Cheesy

I love the colors in the scarf!  I sometimes make scarves only because I love the colors or feel of yarn...I then randomly give them away or take them to the homeless shelter...someone can always use a scarf to keep warm or to brighten their day...I think it is wonderful! (and I love that you reclaimed an old sweater!)  Was it difficult to unravel the acrylic sweater---?

oh and thanks to everyone for ideas on bits of cotton yarn--I made up a few of those cool tawashi scrubbies and now have them available for swaps or to give as random gifts!

pfft!  lapoli--you can make your list as long as you like! I keep adding to mine as sort of a place to keep track of everything I want to make no matter if I get it done or not!

I added about 30 things I did not do last year but I am going to rethink why I did not do them...probably because I lost interest or they were boring! Cheesy

I cast on this awesome popcorn stitch scarf/hat combo that is keeping me on my toes!  Since I am using a solid color, every mistake is very prominent!

Phew--I keep adding new people to my master list of participants!

The fingerless crochet gloves was a pattern that I got off the redheart site...I will see if I can find it for you kittymom13!  I really did like the one from ravelry as well but they are made with thicker yarn than what I used...

I loved the simple beaded necklace...it looks like something I would wear a lot...

j_kievet--you better post some pics of that party!  I hope it goes well.

I have all of my charity afghans started and in their own project bags to pick up and do whenever I have some down time in front of the tv!  Now I just have to do the same with the Quilt for Kids...

In case anyone needs more incentive to make things, another craftalong by LadyLietzen is going on...it is a more specific and will help you meet your crafting New Year's Resolution!!!

Yarn or Fabric--I made crochet fingerless gloves using sock yarn and they are lightweight and yummy!! Super quick and easy as well...I used a very small hook so the stitches are nice and tight yet stretchy...I have knitted and crocheted them and I really like the crochet ones the best for me! Cheesy
14148  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Embroidery Hoopla Round 3 - OTT Edition! (SignUps CLOSED, SendOuts 1/10) on: January 05, 2011 01:45:58 PM
oh krafty_karasu--I just got caught up on this thread!  Sorry that I did not respond to you...what do you need help with or is it too late? I am sure that whatever you did is going to be lovely!

I need to finish the back using the various tutorials that many of you were so kind to direct me to!  So many great tips and points...they will come in handy for all future swaps! Cheesy
14149  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Question about steam tower (Menu) on: January 05, 2011 01:34:34 PM
Great news! Cheesy

A dear friend of mine and fellow craftster made me a swap journal when I first joined...it was useful for a while to record tracking numbers, keep track of what I made (in case I got th same person again!), etc. I also had a quick reference for addresses, etc.  Despite all of these good things, I found that I was just scribbling on the PM's...it did not work for my style of dis-organization! Cheesy

I do love the covers, however--the collage is eye-catching and nicely done!

I think the postman is going to be the envy of his fellow postal workers!  You just gave a great idea of what to make for my male random acts of crafting person! He works at the front cashier by the door and probably could use those to keep most of his hands warm and yet still do his job! Cheesy
