Bravo rackycoo!!  How many pages did you end up using?  It seems that since I have added watercolor pages, my book is getting pretty fat!

What type of binding did you do--the same as what the original notebook was?

I love your last page--perfect for your theme!

Wulf--those hats are perfect!  I certainly think the spirit of the hippies live through making clothes from whatever is available--I guess that is why the gibbous fashions seem to be so intriguing!

As I recall, the tunic type of blouses that were popular were from India and Africa--dashiki's come to mind! And anything from Peru and of course anything having to do with revolution...and going against the establishment...I wonder if it would be possible to get some gems from Laugh-in episodes? ha ha or Absolutely Fabulous?

added: lovesclutter--the mod era seemed to coincide with the hippies--Goldie Hawn, Twiggy and Nancy Sinatra with her white go-go boots..the micro mini

I think she wants the flowy dress look...I love the ones posted!

awesome!  Tomorrow might be a shopping day after all...

I agree--these pillows take lots of thread!
13564  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing ATC Swap Discussion 2.0 on: August 06, 2010 01:44:57 PM
hmmmm--I think I can sneak in a few ATC's while working on my various craftalong projects...they are so easy and fun to do...ok, I am caving--off to sign up for August and revamp my list---I have so many more to collect...and to give out--I am on a watercolor and ink kick right now and also have tons of fabric scraps!

YAY--I see familiar faces and newbies!

congrats!  I see you made it into the featured projects this week...I knew you would Wink...I have been linking this to everyone I know!

Have I said how much I love this? Cheesy

I am only decorating the "front"--the back lays across the body or on the floor anyway...however, I was going to do two complete fronts until you gave me the quicker idea to do larger panels and save the smaller pillows for another project...I think I might take one of the smaller pillows and put it across the middle of the two big panels in back and just embellish the little pillow only...I definitely would not over do the embellishment under the flap unless you would like to see it... it is fabulous---make your strap so I can see what to do next!!! Cheesy

What a great pattern!  I have seen similar in the new books (of course, the regular price is now about $9.00! Cheesy)

Great idea to look at old patterns...I will see if I have any remaining--I think 1975 was a bit later in the period...but the style seemed to hang around a bit longer (ugh--the ugly fashions of the 1980's)...halter tops were also a big thing and hiphugger pants...

Fun memories!

The bag turned out nicely!!

Those are great!  I remember those horrid fake patchwork prints! Cheesy

And of course, anything that could be made from bandanas!

Angel wing dresses--no wonder my nieces want to dress like hippies!  What fun!

Have you tried to google Janis Joplin?  I wore everything she wore!  Floppy leather hat, cream colored tunic (similar to the one you show, but definitely, no poufy sleeves--more like big bell sleeves!)...patchwork skirts, grungy bellbottoms with patches and embroidery, macrame belts, fringed jackets and boots, flat sandals with flowers...anything red/white/blue (it the first time people used flag material to make clothing! before that, it was considered treason or something Cheesy)...

I did wear maxi dresses, but I remember them more in tie dye than flowers (the flowers were more for your hair and for the rememberance of Kent State masacre!)...

I will dig out my old photos and see if I can find some pics to scan for you---have you looked at the Hippy Swap(it is spelled incorrectly, so you will have to hunt it by the misspelling!)--there are some pretty cool hippie clothing items there as well...

Sounds like a great time...#3 sees closest to what I remember in florals but it still feels off!
