13191  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: A Question of Color on: January 12, 2011 12:15:24 PM
Navy--I think navy and yellow are lovely and a change from black...

but depending on your design, a brown might work as well...

13192  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Keep Me Warm Swap (signups CLOSED sendout 2/5/10) on: January 12, 2011 12:05:46 PM
No shut downs for us in PA---not unless we get more than 4 feet...Cheesy

I have to go to a special store near my Mom's to get something for the drinking portion...it will give me an excuse to visit with her as well...what I need won't expire or be old...all I am is saying is that I have these and I love them! Cheesy

13193  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: craftalong:post a project on every completed projects board in a year (ish!) on: January 12, 2011 12:02:14 PM
I totally forgot that my recovered footstool is on one of the boards I needed! Cheesy

I also finished the mats for my cat carriers, but I don't think it warrants a separate post on the Pet Board so I will have to think of something else!

Anybody "ship" yet?

I picked out the pattern and fabric for the purse...I hope my partner likes it! Cheesy
13196  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Small footstool saved from the demon trash bin! on: January 12, 2011 11:31:52 AM
It appalls me to see what people throw out!  I wish I had a truck...I seriously think I would collect a lot more things and fix them up...

thanks for letting me show off a very simple project to show that it does not have to be hard at all to fix up what you have!
13197  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Everyone Needs a Beard on: January 12, 2011 10:22:05 AM
Pretty simple but time intensive!

I drew out a basic pattern for the beard with flleece and then cut yards and yards of suede yarn.  I sort of hooked it into the fleece with a crochet hook and tied each one of those suckers!  I did the same thing with the mustache only I interfaced it first...

Sewed the mustache onto the beard, covered up the back with more fleece--attached elastic!

For the accessories, I sewed snaps behind the beard and mustache and then onto the end of the accessories...I used fishing line to string the snot and the bread crumbs...

BUTTTTTTTTT...if I had to make another one, I would lay the yarn over the fleece in loops and sew through it, row by row, starting at the bottom...the thing took way too much time, but I was obsessed! Cheesy

My family came at Thanksgiving and everyone got a picture of themselves wearing the beard...whodda thunk that such a goofy thing could make us laugh so much!!!

The entire thing is washable because you know that it has to be shared by all that see it...and a grungy beard is not a good thing! Cheesy

I hope the family that got it has fun with it! Cheesy
13198  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Embroidery Hoopla R3 - OTT Edition Gallery on: January 12, 2011 09:20:58 AM
I love how the embroidery is done then cut out!!

Reminds me of found poetry...

Is the background printed on the fabric or is is drawn?  I like it!

The Astor hat is such a gorgeous pattern...the green is gorgeous--what yarn did you use?

I have seen the fleece gloves...but I do not want to add to my list...oh, well, maybe... Cheesy

Batgirl--what gorgeous colors!  I know a lot of the ones I have seen were much more muted -- I like the brightness of them!  I have not seen that yarn...I bet is is also great for knitting...

mommythemaid--your crafting room is gorgeous--and neat---and clean--<----jealous!!!

and, you silly gals...enough talk about the balls...what are you, a 15 year old boy? Cheesy

Stop it!  Stay on crafting! Cheesy
