how cute!! and what a lot of them!

I like to cut away the fur from the seams at an angle so that I can see the fabric better to sew...especially with really really long fur...you just tilt your scissors toward the fur and cut at an angle...it does make sewing so much easier and the seams stronger!

My girlfriend brought me two awesome Kaffe Fassett knitting books for inspiration and support...I so want to make a knitted shawl in the book but it would take me at least three months to do...I think I will mark it as a fall project for myself...in the meantime, I will play with my KF fabrics for this project... Cheesy

Do you think people back then were not only more frugal but had tougher stomachs?  I often wonder if we stopped being frugal as a society because no one wanted to eat homemade stuff anymore that seemed "gross" and also people did not want to get their hands dirty?

Maybe being frugal means being tougher in some ways?

laughing_lark--you have the most interesting projects...I am so afraid of throwing out stuff because someone might give me an idea of what I can do with it...now I need to dig out all those silk tank tops I thought I no longer needed...

I remember when Women's magazines has nothing but thrifty ideas...that was part of the female's job, to make the home a happy place on a budget!!  I wonder if they can be found online...some of the ideas were really great while others seem so silly now!

I remember one tip was to work with your neighbors to limit your calls on your party telephone line.  Each family could use like 30 minutes a month...I remember my parents used one call a month to my grandfather and dad used to set the timer down for about 10 minutes! How weird it seems that we can chat for hours on the phone now...I guess that is why I don't use the phone much and don't really use my cell phone--old habits die hard!

ouchie--poor SI! Hope all is well, slyfox!

What a lovely thank you package you received dannispring240!

Something to pamper yourself with is always nice!

I like the thank you card as well...we mods were talking about how nice it is that people still have manners enough to send out thank you for gifts and kindness...it is heartwarming!
