21  Re: Stitching INCHIES Craftalong *JOIN IN ANYTIME!!* in Craftalongs by alwaysinmyroom on: June 13, 2014 06:37:33 AM
I actually managed to squeeze in three more squares...I will have to take a small break to do a major clean-up of our workshop/furnace room...seems like one of the cats dragged in something that died in there...we have to clear everything out to find it, as it stinks and the flies are all over! UGH!!!!!

Anyway, after that major gross thought, here are my completed squares so far:

I just love how you combine the different sizes of squares!!  The first one appeals to me because of the brightness, but the softer ones are perfect for babies...you are quite generous in what you donate...I am not sure I could give all of those away!!

I have been doing the Stinchies Craftalong...not sure how to count this as a project...maybe when I am all done! Grin

But, so I don't seem like a slacker, I will post a few progress pictures:

My first two squares:

I finally got a semi-decent picture of the two squares I completed.  I decided not to outline everything in advance because I am going to try different stitches.  These first two are done with chain stitch, using the second technique provided to us...

I am doing mixed media, so I have used beads, clay and thread...going to do most of my squares like this as it is what I like.

The moon and the sun.  I am actually more of a moon person, so I gave more emphasis to the moon.

Close-up of moon.  I used backstitch and "stab" stitch:

Close-up of sun. Trying to get better at those pesky French knots! Grin.

I am mostly winging it...drawing right on my fabric with a pencil and then stitching...I am going to try stem stitch tomorrow.

love those jewelry pouches!  They do look complicated with all the little pockets!

bushbaby--the busier I am, the more I NEED to craft...it is stress relief for me...now that I no longer care for my mother, I seem to have way too much time on my hands so I try to keep busy with clearing out my junk for a future move and making stuff...

When I am outside getting some sunshine and fresh air, I get a bit bored, so I tend to make fun, outdoor projects:

I have six I want to do, well, actually six more because I mailed this one to a friend...

How is this event coming?

Bushbaby has received the Dr. Who scarf I am donating for the cause!  I found the coolest picture of Drusilla (Spike's first love from Buffy the Vampire Slayer...yeah, I am a nerd...) wearing the same scarf I knit!

I just mailed in my scarf length as well...bushbaby--when do you put it all together?

Your children are adorable!  I love those pre-shirred fabrics!  You can make a dress or top so quickly!

Cute kiddie fabrics!  Anne, what type of things do you like to sew?

Well, yesterday was a good mail day for me!

This is weird, but I received the most incredible mermaid altered spool from rackycoo yesterday...and then, when I opened up my package from underthemountain, I got this!!!:

She actually sent me three lovely pieces of jewelry...I am going to have to buy more clothes just to wear all of the fabulous jewelry I have been receiving from this swap!!

The little bee pin has watch parts...so steampunk!!  The pendant will go nicely with an aqua t-shirt I just got...oh, and the mermaid cameo can be worn as a pin or a pendant!!

Thanks, Rox!!!!

I feel like I just won the Altered Spool lottery!  I received mine yesterday from rackycoo..and I win, hands down! Grin

May I present my own little mermaid!

Racky teased me by stating that she was using an ugly pair of earrings...do you know what the earrings are now?  Take a guess...

Love the tiny shell bra and the sequin scales!

Here she is displayed in all of her glory!

Thank you, rackycoo...btw--you do know this is our first official swap after all of these years? Grin

sorry--had to brag a little about lindy321 and sheepblue...and also kittykill...here is the coffee area of my kitchen...recognize the art work? Grin

Also, here is how I am displaying the spider sheepblue sent to me:

ha ha When anyone goes for the hall light, they better watch out! Grin

AND...I made a globe for the garden using a Craftster video tutorial!! It really sparkles a lot more, but I got the picture right when it was starting to rain...

I received from sheepblue and lindy321!  What two awesome partners!

I am sure that due to my lateness in getting pictures up,  you have already seen their projects, so I am just posting to brag about what I got! Grin

First, sort of a together shot...the awesome "sushi" ATC I got from sheepblue featuring her newly acquired skill of doing stumpwork!  It is next to the "coffee" hoop lindy321 made for me (which is next to the one kittykill made me last round!)...how is that for having my walls decorated by talented Craftsters?

Next, a group shot of the goodies from sheepblue...an incredible spider ATC with creepy eyes and moveable front legs; a wall weaving made from handspun, a cool necklace with an interesting mix of stuff, and, ha ha , a card that was made by lindy321 for sheepblue (I love it when we pass around each other's cards!!). She also sent me some keys for me to make a key wind chime some day:

Lindy sent me much needed notecards using her fancy dancy machine...it is called a Silhouette!  I think I need one...look at the intricate cuts it can do....I love the little whale!

Almost forgot!!!

I practically begged sheepblue to send me a few of her printed fabric pieces...

You can see more of sheepblue's and lindy's  individual projects on their separate posts...it will be worth it!

Thank you so much, ladies...you made my weekend...I feel so spoiled!

I took a few more pictures that I am going to post in the 50 projects just so I don't hog the thread! Grin
