21  Halloween Stuff for Me! in Halloween Decor and Parties by alwaysinmyroom on: October 21, 2015 05:44:30 PM
It seems that the only projects I ever keep for myself are Halloween ones!  I love decorating for Halloween and love to find projects on Pinterest and, of course, on here, to inspire me!

Here are the things I made for myself so far (hey, still have over a week to go until the big day!) Grin

Pillows (inspired by Pinterest finds)

Monster pillows to hold candy--I will be handing these out to my favorite neighborhood kids!

Spider web coasters (completely stole these from Bow and Sparrow, except I added a painted plastic spider for extra creepiness

Creepy doll picture--saw this on Pinterest and tried to figure out how to do it...not sure it is exactly how it should be done, but it seemed to work as hubby is totally creeped out by it! Grin

And, a scrappy Halloween fabric bucket

Still have a few more things to make before I am done...better get going!  Thanks for looking!

23  Re: Sweat Shoppe ORNAMENT Swap Round 6 (signups end 10/17, send by 11/17) in ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED by alwaysinmyroom on: October 12, 2015 12:14:48 PM
I am doing tiny bottle brush trees on spools...I was going to do just blue, like the little one in this scene I did last year...

Do you think I should do red and green as well?

I received beautful watercolor notecards from greybird, an autumnal bracelet from GatorWrangler, and the cutest bead wire tree from Jenn9000!

Wanted to show all the pretty cards..

and my favorite!  keeping this one!

The little tree lives on my desk at work so I can see it everyday...thanks so much for swapping!  Can't wait to for the other goodies to show up!

26  Black Frames Needed to Be Filled...What could be better than Halloween stuff!? in Halloween Decor and Parties by alwaysinmyroom on: September 27, 2015 08:50:48 PM
I saw these cute crochet frames highlighted in the Craftster blog so I decided to make a couple.  Once I made them, I then realized I needed to put something in them...so I googled vintage Halloween images and quickly made these up.

I used a cardboard circle, covered it with white batting, then glued and sewed the embroidery on the top.

It was a fun and easy project.  Think I will make a few of these for Christmas gifts and hostess gifts.

All of the knit and crochet items sort of make me look forward to winter...there is really not a lot else I feel like doing in winter...I really hate the cold!

Naantje--I think even in the coldest climates here, the fingerless mitts are mostly worn indoors...a lot of offices are kept colder than what women like...it seems the men get too hot and they seem to win the war of temperature control!  We can't use our keyboards with cold hands...I wear mine at home for the same reason...I like to knit with warm hands...also, in the car...you can wear them and still control the steering wheel...I make them for everyone I can...they seem to be a welcomed gift!

Cmouse...you look great in that color hat and scarf! I also have no patience to do an intricate doily...I have so many patterns from Japan that are just beautiful...my mom was a huge into making doilies!

sheepblue...that shrine brought tears to my eyes...I have known kittykill and Lola a very long time...I am sure it brings her comfort to see something bright and cheerful...love your lino cut cards...what a process!

freakiegeekie--looks like you are getting a jump on making mitts for the holidays!

bookstorebabe...your "thing" was very cool!  I love how you keep on coming up with new ways to recycle "stuff"...

I have been making fabric baskets for the sweat shop swap:  Here are four of them...did a total of six but can't find the pictures of the other two! Grin

29  Autumn is in the air (a bit) so time for a shawlette! in Crochet: Completed Projects by alwaysinmyroom on: September 16, 2015 04:43:42 AM
I saw this post and loved the little shawlette!

I had a ball of Crazy Zauberball yarn which looked like it would be perfect for this pattern.  I had about one foot of yarn left!

I like this pattern because you can make the shawlette into a full size shawl just be increasing the rounds.

I see many more shawlettes in my future.  I highly recommend this fun and easy pattern.

dang, I was so excited about the plumbing parts that I forgot to post my finished Polaroid quilt pieces...I did 48 of these for donniesgirl, who is going to put them together for a very interesting quilt!

These are challenging because you have to carefully cut the center square to look like a Polaroid picture...

I think they are cute and might consider making a smaller quilt for each of the kids in our family.
