I developed this pattern while crafting over the Christmas break.  I think it would make a great Valentines gift!

You can find my pattern at http://www.maizehutton.com/matryoshkadoll.html

Enjoy!

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Christmas Camera-Dollar Tree DIY! on: December 04, 2006 04:14:33 PM

Everything you need for this project can be purchased at the Dollar Tree.  Did you know they sell cameras there?  I challenged myself to come up with a Dollar Tree DIY for under $5.  Here's what I came up with.   They're a perfect stocking stuffer or gift for a Secret Santa.  Encourage a little shutterbug in your family this Christmas with their own personalized camera!

Can also be viewed at my website: http://www.maizehutton.com/dollartreecamera.html

I use Goo Gone.  Works great.  Or you can use WD40.
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Basketry 101/Paper Coil Yarn Baskets with TUTORIAL! on: August 20, 2006 12:12:17 PM
My winning basket was approximately 6 inches in diameter.

Thanks for correcting me on the link.  It's fixed now.

6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Basketry 101/Paper Coil Yarn Baskets with TUTORIAL LINK! on: August 16, 2006 10:17:28 AM

Back in the mid 1980's when I was living in Alaska, I loved the baskets the Eskimos made and was determined to learn.  I signed up for a coil basket class and went about making a bunch as gifts and entered one in the Fur Rendevous festival winning Division Champion.

Just recently, I recalled the basket making technique and thought I'd share how I make these.  I've set up a tutorial http://www.maizehutton.com/coilbasket.html on my website if you're interested in making one.

Mine are made with paper twist and yarn.  They're very easy to make and you can complete one in an evening once you get the hang of it.

Enjoy!

You'll want to take the label off because you'll be able to see it under the paint.

Have fun!

I just used the cheap spray paint at Walmart.  It's 96 cents a can.   Grin

These are super simple and fun to make, although you'll probably have a caffeine buzz when you're done!  I simply spray painted the empty bottles white, then painted on some words.  The tutorial is here: http://www.maizehutton.com/milkbottlevases.html

Enjoy!
