Beautiful job. You say you "threw" together a hand quilted quilt? How long did it take you? My mind is boggled.
And I love that design, and the colors. Oh, and I don't think backing is ever irrelevant! I'm always interested in the backing of a quilt, and find you can see the quilting better on that side, anyway.
Yeah, I saw this guy's stuff and had a similar reaction. His piecing and use of fabrics is phenomenal, but does every quilt have to be so...not squared up? I loved a couple of them enough to see a 3000 dollar price tag for the art, but the consistently crooked edges made the quilter in me a little nauseous.
This is so beautiful, and Doomsday Book is one of my favorite books of all time. Wow, do I wish this was for me. The snow, the figures, the perfect background fabrics. I am totally in awe. Fantastic job!
