1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Shrinking Cotton-Ease on: February 08, 2008 08:35:24 AM
I've never been able to get Cotton Ease to shrink, no matter how hot or how long I dried it.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Who are you on Ravelry? on: September 29, 2007 06:25:19 AM
My username is WeirdyPants. On another Ravelry related note, my queue reached 100 items the other day. Guess I'd better get cracking!  Cheesy
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Muggles say the cutest things . . . on: July 11, 2007 08:10:51 PM
Last summer, I was at the "girl doctor" (as my husband likes to call it) and I brought a sock to start while I was waiting. I cast on, get the dpns straightened out and do a couple rows. While I'm knitting, I can feel these two elderly women watching me, and every time I glance up, they were watching me. Finally, one of them whispers really loudly to the other one "She's crocheting!" With what, five straight hooks?
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: yellow squash is in season...now what.... on: June 26, 2007 09:13:30 PM
Ooh, deep fried zucchini is SO GOOD!

You know what else might be good, since someone mentioned grilling the squash...you could slice it into strips, grill it  with some peppers and onions (in a basket, that way you're not fishing strips of squash out of the grill) and then put it in a quesadilla.

Well, it's not a casserole, but I like to saute it in olive oil with onion, garlic and corn. Sometimes I add a bit of shredded cheddar when it's done. Tasty!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Free Tomato! on: June 21, 2007 08:27:34 AM
I was just thinking that I would love to buy some of the new colors of Cotton Ease but I didn't want to just buy it without having something to use it for. Hello, reason to buy yarn!  Cheesy
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Finish discoloring on Knit Picks Needles! on: June 12, 2007 08:00:58 PM
Some discoloration happened on my size 2 dpns, but weirdly, not on my size 1 circs that I use for magic loop.  Huh
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: organic cotton? on: May 30, 2007 07:50:13 PM
Bernat just introduced an organic cotton, but I haven't actually seen it in person yet: http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=organiccotton
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How many WIPs do you usually have going? on: May 23, 2007 08:57:08 AM
I used to be a project monogamist, but then I started knitting socks! I usually have 2 projects going on at one time, a sock and something bigger. I usually manage to work on both in a day. Anymore than 2 and I feel like I start to lose focus and nothing will get done.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: probably a dumb question, but i'm asking anyway on: May 14, 2007 09:57:39 AM
This was not a stupid question, I couldn't figure it out the first time I did ribbing either, you're not alone!
