21  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Vintage inspired birthday card on: June 24, 2011 08:38:45 PM

My creation by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

this is one of my first attempts at making a card!  It's inspired by a tutorial found in a 1975 crafting encyclopedia.
i used a pencil eraser to make the polka dots, and cut out the bird by hand.
it looks a little childish, but i guess that suits my aesthetic perfectly.
what do you think?

yarn dog. by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

i wanted to use up and giant stockpile of acrylic yarn.
i remembered a project we made in summer camp when i was ten.

"yarn dog" is made from a coat hanger, some felt and whole lotta yarn.
it really only took about 2-3 hours.

isn't he the cutest? :-)

24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / A Woodland-ish Wreath on: June 03, 2011 09:16:06 PM

Hey!
I'm half satisfied with this project.
I really wanted to reshape the wreath.
I soaked it for days and nothing happened.
Does anyone know what I may have done wrong?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

25  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / mother's day tube shawl/scarf. on: May 04, 2011 05:13:28 PM

a mohair tube scarf, inspired by Leigh radford's "Alterknits",
that i knitted for my mother.
the fabric inside is a bed sheet
from montgomery ward. which i cut down and hemmed.
(my grandmother used to work there).

i used three balls of rowan kidsilk haze in a discounted color, and casted on an obscene amount of stitches.
it took forever.

26  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / coffee filter wreath on: January 10, 2011 04:53:10 PM

i can't stop making coffee filter wreaths.
(i have already made four.)

i want to make one for every holiday.

there is something magical about glue-ing coffee filters to paper plates.

27  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / a couple of slouchy hats. on: August 20, 2009 06:38:47 PM
it's  just a simple pattern i freeformed to make a few hats for friends.
i may throw a few in my shop sometime soon.....  i dunno?

they are both made from knitpicks wool of the andes worsted.
i used size 8 and 9 needles <3

28  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / floor pillows. on: July 19, 2009 07:07:01 PM

i made this from a vintage bed sheet and stuffed it with 2 standard pillows tied together.

i followed the tutorial at AT almost exactly, i just changed the size to a 30"X30" square and stuffed the corners with fiberfill to fill in the corners.

i was kinda afraid of sewing velcro.  I haven't before.  i though the thread may catch on the rough side.  it really wasn't a big deal.  i did, however, put the fiberfill in after i put on the velcro.  i had to pick it all out of the rough side.  lawlz.......

29  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / i went walking with a ghost. on: July 11, 2009 06:42:44 PM

i had quite a few crafty disasters today.

i needed a quick project to get me back on track.

this lil' ghostie is from the black apple pack.

i should have used some interfacing or something to stiffen the fabric but, i didn't.  i'm real lazy like that.

30  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / wee and wonderful on: July 04, 2009 09:20:17 PM

free pattern @ wee wonderfuls.
i spent most of the day before easter watching chitty chitty bang bang and sewing these wonderful little creatures to give as gifts.

the pattern was pretty simple, i just drew on the fabric to make the face and embroidered over it.  instead of weighted stuffing, i tossed some navy beans in the bottom of each one.

everyone really loved them :-)
