craft supply challenge: mod podge. by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

i tried making faux sea glass with food dye and mod podge, but failed miserably three times, so this is my entry for
craftyminx craft supply challenge this week.

it's pretty self-explanatory. i covered the jar in mod podge and wrapped it in yarn. haha.

it'll look cute with my easter decorations :-)

I made this last month for a valentine's swap, but she just now received it. Ugh.

I used a strick liesel to make the i-cord and I knitted and felted all of the hearts :-)

I want to make one for my house, now!

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / vintage lion for charity! on: January 27, 2012 08:16:20 PM

my submission for softies for mirabel. by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

I finally finished this lion that I've been working on since November! I'm so proud :-)
She's made almost completely of vintage materials (with the exception of felt anf fiberfill). I even based the pattern of of something from a 1965 craft magazine.
Her "mane" was created using a waldorf doll technique where you hand sew each loop and tack it down with a satin stitch.  The eyes were based on a Dakin Dreampet, and I added the sequins. The dress looks simple in the photo but it actually has a ton pleats at the top.
Sadly, I have to pack her up and ship her off next week for a charity event in Australia. I guess I'll always have the pictures.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / jaywalker socks! on: January 19, 2012 03:40:33 PM

jaywalkers! by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

I finally finished these socks! I've casted on for them more than four times. I had a lot of issues with the fit. They kept coming out insanely tight, and with no stretch.
I eventually ended up adding two extra sections of chevron so I would be able to pull them over my ankles.
It's funny, I have really thin legs but these socks just weren't working with the dimensions in the pattern. My gauge was on, so it wasn't me. IDK!
I'm so glad that they are finally finished and that the fit me!

Socks=0, Robbie=1

YAY!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / quick knit gift: the fidget. on: December 20, 2011 07:20:26 PM

the fidget. by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

I'm obsessed with the Fidget pattern!  I've knitted, like, 3 of these.  They move so fast, but the don't look like 12th hour projects.

There's still time to knit 3 or 4 of these, I promise!!!!

Every year since I found the pattern, this has been my go-to Christmas gift for family and co-workers and whoever else.  I;m seriously fanatical. gah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Introducing Tom, a really hip turkey. on: November 05, 2011 07:45:06 PM

screenprinted turkey! by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

i made this turkey from a vintage VIP cut and sew screenprint, and I love him to bits!
we really don't have any thanksgiving decorations, so he's all alone on the occasional table.
it's time he's found some friends. don't you think?

9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / crepe paper bird mask: martha stewart living. on: October 28, 2011 12:15:19 PM

finished: martha stewart bird mask. by KnitXcorE, on Flickr

I'm so excited to have finally finished this!  I bought the mask 2 years ago, but never had the time to make the feathers or paint it.

I'm not much for elaborate costumes, so this is probably exactly what I'll wear on Monday.
