1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Tween Ruffle Leggings & $5 Knock-Off Abercrombie Skirt! on: July 20, 2010 03:17:58 PM
The tween thing is so difficult now a days. That and the fact that the stores seem to carry "Tarts in Training" clothes at very small sizes.
My grand daughter was taller than me when she was 8. Ok, so I am only 5' but for 8 it was difficult. And personality wise, she was very young, and did not want to dress older. So yeah, your tights would be a bargin.

Oh, so cute. Would also make a cute wash cloth , you know rubber ducky type ideas.
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: My first attempt at a dress (actually any clothing) IMG heavy! on: July 20, 2010 02:45:34 PM
Seriously, be prepared to come home from the wedding with a few orders. You make a great team. And is there ever a need out there. Actual fun clothes for real people. What a concept.
4  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Zebra Print Dress on: July 07, 2010 03:00:33 PM
Love it. Your work is always great. We are expecting a surprise grandchild, and her theme is Zebra print and hot pink. SO I naturally was attracted to this post.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Beautiful Shirred Dress I Created Today..... on: July 07, 2010 02:44:26 PM
Aren't you glad you can sew. My grand daughter, who lives across the country wanted a dress. They went all over, hard to find any, and the ones they found were NOT modest. Finally found a  sundress she wears t shirt under. Yours is so much cuter.
6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: Summer Wardrobe for my DD! on: April 05, 2010 12:33:07 PM
As you know, I am a big fan!!. Love the new summer dress. You always do such fun things for her. I am surprised at how much she is growing. Seems like she was just a tiny little thing. Then Pre School. Now she is so grown up!!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Re: HAnd sewing stretch/jersey/knit fabric...help please on: April 05, 2010 12:19:25 PM
When using a machine, ball point needles are suggested. THese are also available in hand sewing needles. As in the last post making the stiches slightly slanted, either
//////\/\/\/\/\ not as slanted as the type shows. Just a gentle slant, it gives a more relaxed seam which can stretch with the garmet.
Also stretch the seam SLIGHTLY as you sew. This allows for movement.
Then simply enjoy!!
You might talk about your love of sewing. Once I was with a group of women and I mentioned my frustration that my sewing machine had died, and it was in the middle of a project. I recieved several offers of machines to use. Even keep.
Seems several of the woman had been given machines by husbands, or worse Mother in Laws and they did not like to sew AT ALL>
There is probably a machine near you waiting for a good home. I hope so.
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Rose Dress on: March 13, 2010 12:22:51 AM
You were so ahead of the trend on this. There was a black dress on the red carpet with sissors and things sewn to it. Like the designer had seen your rose. Great job.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Re: My first anything!!!!!!!!!! (1/50) on: January 29, 2010 10:21:17 PM
Great beginning. Now when she out grows it this time, and of course she will, sew the arms , neck, and tail shut. Stuff with some fiber fil, and you have a little pillow. It will be a good memory of a cute shirt, plus your first project.

Have not used the exact fabric, but this tip might help. Use a strip of tissue paper to cover the feed dogs. It works with slippery satin.
